If you have a boy, buy a bag of pinto beans for him, and get out the trucks and tractors!
Dakota and I had to do a run to the local grocery store the other week. I thought he was following me down the aisle, but when I turned around to check just to be sure, he was following me alright. With a bag of Pinto beans under his arm as he marched along behind me.
We bought them and he's had a lot of fun with them. I don't think we'll be eating them after this, though. He loves playing with them! My only requirement is that they stay on the kitchen floor. Nothing worse than hearing them ping off the table or having them all over the carpet.
We've got the candles burning, brownies baking, and anything else to try and shake this weather! Hope you have a warm and cozy day in this blustery weather!
Have you ever used dry beans for imaginative play like this? What are you doing with your kids during this crazy cold weather?

I like this idea so much! It looks like construction site fill, and so much cleaner than actual dirt (hello, not bringing dirt inside, and this will keep the toys much cleaner, too).
I showed this to my 3 year old son, and his eyes lit up. I asked him if he thought it looked like fun. Yeah, he totally wants some beans. I'm picking some up on my next grocery trip.
Thank you for this idea, genius mom!! Also, gorgeous pictures!
