The Smell of a Mother
OK, this might seem like an odd post.. but whatever..Today, Josh opened a can of Diet Pepsi and I immediately felt like my mom was here. That is one smell that instantly makes me think of her.
Diet Pepsi, freshly baked bread, and lemon furniture polish makes me think of my Mother...
Cigarette smoke, the smell of butter beans cooking, and coffee makes me think of my Nana...
I asked Josh..."Pine-sol and caramel."
Makes sense. I clean EVERYTHING with Pine-sol. My candles are usually caramel scented and I'm always eating Werther's Originals. Oh, and my perfumes always have a "warm" scent.
My friend once told me that I have a distinct smell. "Peaches and socks right out of the dryer." I'm STILL trying to figure that one out! LOL!
What smells make you think of your mothers? Grandmothers? What smells do you think will remind your children of you?

There are 2 smells. One is my Dad's old books as I find him in his library a lot and the other is the smell of computers. I came across an old computer book in my boxes and, curiously sniffed it, and the odor of dust and the binding brought tears to my eyes cause it reminded me of my Dad who passed away years ago.
So yes, certain smells definitely do play a big part of emotions in our lives today. Φ ≡
Mom smells like cigarette smoke. Not pleasant. Dad used to smell like Prell shampoo and Old Spice. Not so much anymore, but that's still what makes me think of him.
My kids (if I ever have any) will probably think of me when they smell cocoa butter. My husband does.
I can't think of a scent that makes me think of my grandparents. I hope my grandkids will associate me with cinnamon and apples. haha
Lavender, warm bubble bath, and vanilla reminds me of my mother.
My mom: Sage and Citrus (a candle), baked bread/stuffing, and a particular blush by CG that has a strong scent.
@Manic_Butterflies@xanga - I understand what you're saying about the blush! Same thing here.. CG blush is another thing that makes me think of my mom!
Blush reminds me of my mom, too! That and buckwheat cooking, and vitamins (yuck), and some soft pretty smell I can't identify.
My maternal grandpa smells like never wearing deoderant (lol!), and like hay fields, and cows, and sunshine, and dust.
My dad smells like computers, Victoria's Secret shampoo, clothes fresh from the dryer, and a hint of musky man smell.
