  • Introducing Sarah, Momaroo's Assistant Editor!

I'm sure to many of you, this beautiful face is awfully familiar. Am I right? Well, recently Sarah joined the Momaroo team! First as an intern, and then as Assistant Editor. I wanted to properly introduce her as she has been an amazing support and has done wonders behind-the-scenes! Here is a fun interview with Sarah!

When did you start reading Momaroo?
In late 2008. I was a reader for a long time before I ever submitted a post. My first post (about birth control, breastfeeding, and libido) was in 2009.

What is your favorite thing about being a mom? I'm never, ever bored anymore. EVER. Just kidding. Not to be sentimental, I actually don't think it's possible for me to answer that. I've struggled with this question and tried to come up with a favorite thing, but my life is so drastically different now than it was prior to having children. I can't put into words the way my life has been enriched, the way my heart has been expanded, the way my love for my husband is even greater since becoming a parent with him...I just can't come up with a concrete answer.

Who would play you in a movie about your life? Maggie Gyllenhaal. I have this idea that she has a quality about her, it's like an intelligence without the need to advertise it.  Strength and backbone coupled with kindness. A rule breaker, but not for the sake of rebellion, for the sake of finding your own way. I admire these things.

What is the most annoying toy that your child/ren own? My son has a Power Ranger sword that makes so much noise! But I have to tell you about the scariest toy we have! It's an old baby doll my husband's grandmother gave my daughter. It talks when you play with it, and we have not been able to figure out how to turn it off. Sometimes it...malfunctions?? And in the middle of the night, we'll hear it through the baby monitor, "mama" and then it makes a biting noise. Wahh! It's scary! I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of it yet because my daughter likes this thing.

Tell us about your family! My husband, Josh, and I have two kids. Our daughter Ava is 6, and she is very dramatic and artistic. She's a girly girl and extremely intelligent. Our son Isaiah is 3. He is all boy and always has been. He's mostly into sports and superhero figurines. We also have two canine members of our family, Trent and Mille, who incidentally are the reason Josh and I met. Trent is a Lab/Pointer mix, and Mille is a Portuguese Water Dog. Both are rescues from the Humane Society.

Josh has served for 10 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He is 4 years younger than me, and I secretly enjoy being called a cradle-robber or cougar because of it (even though 4 years hardly qualifies me for these titles). We've been married for 6 years. Prior to the decision to stay at home with my children, I worked in Radiology as a CT tech. I specialized in CT angiography and trauma. I loved what I did and sometimes miss it in a cold-sweat, anxiety-ridden kind of way. Doesn't that sound great?! But seriously though, I value staying at home with my children since I have the opportunity to do it, and who knows, after my children are grown maybe I'll go back to my other, official career.

We are homeschoolers. I want to add that because it's a big part of our family life.

Everyone please give Sarah a warm welcome, and watch as we unleash our awesomeness on you all!
