  • Sponsored: Putting Good First

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tom's of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

“What did you put first today that made you feel especially good?”

Please don't say that you showered the spit-up out of your hair, or sniffed the milk to make sure it hadn't gone sour. As moms, we often neglect ourselves. We want properly dressed children, clean homes, organized offices, and dinner on the table every night. But in that strive for "perfection", we forget about the little things that make us human and appreciate ourselves as beautiful women.

The answer to that question doesn't have to be a personal one though, you can most certainly awake each day ready and willing to help others, or to help animals, or to help Mother Earth. The choice is yours. Want to connet with your friends and family who value the same decision? Then the Tom’s of Maine Good First application on Facebook will show you exactly who does.

You start by answering the question “What did you put first today that made you feel especially good?” You answer by choosing from five general topics that reflect Tom’s of Maine’s core belief in healthy, human and environmental goodness. Your answer is rewarded with a corresponding badge of honor on your timeline. Having your choice posted for your friends to see is a great way to start a conversation! Find out where soup kitchens are that are in need of donations, or what the farmer's market hours are from the people on your friends list.

So while we work away on our homes and families, think about what else you can put first. Remember, we have little ones watching our every move. What better way to be a great role model then to involve your children in helping animals, eating healthy foods, and recycling?

The app reminded me that we have a large shopping bag full of kid-friendly treats to drop off at a local soup kitchen. They never receive any kid-specific items (I asked), which is unfortunate (and heartbreaking) because the number of children coming with parents and grandparents has really increased. I checked expiration dates and everything is still good for several months, so we'll be dropping those off this week!

Unfortunately, they are all out of samples so you won't be able to snag a freebie through the app.
