RECALL: Voluntary Recall on Bumbo Seats

There is a brand new, voluntary recall on Bumbo seats because of fall hazards. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT, put your baby in a Bumbo seat and then onto a raised surface (table, counter top, etc).
The CSPC says"Consumers should immediately stop using the product until they order and install a free repair kit, which includes: a restraint belt with a warning label, installation instructions, safe use instructions and a new warning sticker. The belt should always be used when a child is placed in the seat. Even with the belt, the seat should never be used on any raised surface. Consumers should also immediately stop using Bumbo seat covers that interfere with the installation and use of the belt. A video demonstrating proper installation of the restraint belt and proper use of the Bumbo seat are available at www.recall.BumboUSA.com

Consumer Contact: Order the free repair kit by visiting www.recall.BumboUSA.com or calling (866) 898-4999 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Thursday and between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. CT on Friday. Do not return the Bumbo seat to retailers as they will not be able to provide the repair kit."

who on EARTH would put their child in a bumbo and THEN put it on a raised surface? sheesh.
I have said it on FB and I am saying it here. This is a very ridiculous recall. There is nothing wrong with the seat. It clearly says on the seat and the box to use on the floor and supervised. Seriously!!! I have had one for 6 yrs. used it with my 4 children, and passed it along for another dozen of my friends children to use and NO ONE has ever had a problem. A seat belt will not prevent parental error! UGH!!! This is a huge peeve of mine!
Recall? How about using common sense? Who the heck puts a baby in a bumbo and then puts them on a raised surface?
Pretty sure the box says to leave the Bumbo on the floor. People are idiots.
I agree with everyone else
I'm way behind the curve here, but can you use these things in a tub?
@Pollypinks@xanga - they're made out of like, a foam kind of material, so probably. as long as the child isn't left unattended.
i agree with everyone else too. you shouldn't be leaving a child unattended, especially on a raised surface, no matter what they're in. my nephew had a bumbo chair & used it until he was too big for it, & he never once got hurt. it has nothing to do with the chair & everything to do with the parents. my mom was bitching about it too because she said that there was some sort of baby thing, like a walker or something like that, that was made illegal because kids were falling down the stairs in them. maybe you should pay more attention to your child & shit like that wouldn't happen as often. i mean, sure, shit happens but a lot of it could be prevented if people weren't so damn stupid. sorry but that's honestly how i feel.
@ehrinn_l@xanga - I can't imagine...but of course, somehow, "it's the company's fault"
I am so glad the comments are largely on the common sense side of things.
I saw this yesterday, well, just a sign about it. It was with the potty chairs so I was wondering what dickhead decided to put seatbelts on a kids' toilet. lol Then I was thinking of the TSA episode of South Park.
Is there ever a recall that is NOT due to consumer stupidity?
@VampireOfSeduction@xanga -
I concur! People can be really stupid, and the company is just trying to protect itself from lawsuits.
@labelledesreves@xanga - It's sad that companies even have to cater to stupidity and bad parenting.
Some people have no freaking common sense!
I stopped reading at 'restraint' and just laughed. People need restraints to stop creating baby humans.
