Here at Momaroo we're trying something fun! We've received
complaints (and
praise!) for the articles published and featured here. In light of that, we're going to hold a little random giveaway!
You see, for every article that is published during the month of June, the author will receive a single entry into the giveaway. On July 1st, at random, one author will be selected to receive
$50 through PayPal!
Submit a family-friendly recipe (don't forget a great picture!), a fun craft, a birth story, a current news/hot topic piece, whatever - if it's published, you're entered!
And submit as much as you want! If we publish 10 of your pieces, then you have 10 entries! I think you get the picture!
And who knows?! If this does well, and the content is truly what
YOU want to be reading, maybe in July we'll offer a bigger incentive...?
ANYONE can submit a post too, you don't have to write on a Xanga or Momaroo (or other site) blog. Just a passer-by with a great idea? Then submit it! Blog-hopping through StumbleUpon or Pinterest? You can submit too! Just make sure we somehow have your e-mail address.
Our tip: Put your email address at the end of the post - we're keeping track of who writes what!

@sarahsmurfette@xanga - The only time I've split anything was REALLY long birth stories. But just because its submitted will it be published. You can split all you want... we may only publish one part
But if its GOOD then its possible to get entries like that
The annoying thing is these adverts disguised as "posts". I mean, maybe that's how you're raising the $50, but I'd rather just have good quality articles. All this advertising is driving people away. Momaroo is nothing compared to what it used to be.
That's exactly why this is being held. If everyone wants to complain about the quality, then people need to step up and contribute. I can't possible write 7 articles a day like the way this site was a year+ ago, not with 3 children and my own business outside of Momaroo.
@sarahsmurfette@xanga - Your birth story is going up in about 10 minutes and the other tonight. With little content, I have to space things out. 14 months ago, there were 7 posts a day... without submissions, that's just not going to happen again
@Mandi - but the advertising is what's stopping people from contributing, I think. Maybe if you didn't have several advertising posts going up within a couple of days, people would be more inclined to post their own original stuff. I'm not trying to bash you because I know you have your own business and young kids, but like @sarahsmurfette@xanga - said, maybe you should look for posts on Xanga and ask the author's permission for them to be featured here?
Oh I do, I spend no less then an hour every day (or I try to) going through blogs and I'm not finding anything. So either I'm blind, or not looking in the right places. On the submission page there's a place to put links from Xanga-network blogs so anyone can submit someone else's post. I'm personally not a fan of sharing a bunch of personal posts, but if that's what the readers want, then I'll do that. I was seeking posts that aren't as personal but more informative, advice-seeking, current news, that type of thing.
The back-to-back sponsored posts is my fault, I was given deadlines and didn't pay attention and had hoped there would be more content in between.
With my 1 year anniversary coming up 8/1, I guess I should post a survey of sorts.
@Mandi - I think people can relate to personal posts. If the author agrees to submit it. Plus? What is more personal than a birth story, which you requested?
@sarahsmurfette@xanga - the conception story
LOL I'll spend some time this afternoon browsing again
@Mandi - yeah, like I said I wasn't trying to criticize you at all :) it could simply be that people aren't posting much, and that's obviously totally out of your control, lol. I remember when this site was really popular, but it seems a lot of regulars have left or just aren't active anymore, so maybe that's contributed too.
You can buy a lot of ice cream with 50 bucks.
Seems like a positive idea and a good direction for your site.
Was a winner selected?
Will be announcing tomorrow morning!
