  • Battling The Morning Fight With Tom's of Maine

This post brought to you by Tom's of Maine. All opinions are 100% mine.

Every morning before school, we deal with a monster. It's an almost 7 year old who refuses to brush his teeth. He will stand at the sink, with a towel around his neck and tooth brush in his hand and do nothing. The clock keeps ticking, getting closer to the time that we absolutely must be out the door. It's rough, it's stressful, and it's driving me nuts!

When I was asked if I wanted to review Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste, I laughed out loud. No really, I did! We've tried everything, would trying another toothpaste work?

Silly Strawberry has no artificial colors, sweeteners, animal ingredients, or preservatives. It's an all-natural, pretty tasty toothpaste (as a mom I'm obligated to try everything first to prove my point). And something more, 10% of all profits go right back to the community and helping others.

It was worth a shot. We put some on his toothbrush and told him he had to try it. He put up a fight, like always, and I figured we were done and walked away. A minute or two later I returned to check on him, and he was brushing his teeth! He said, "This is pretty good!" and went back to brushing.

So maybe we have a winner! I know I like it - with all the news lately of preservatives in our food, I'm ready to switch many of our everyday items to all natural or organic varieties!

On March 14th at 7:30 PM EST. Kristi Yamaguchi will be reading her new children’s book called It’s A Big World, Little Pig. By attending the Silly Strawberry Story Hour, you will have the chance to receive a free sample of Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry, and a copy of Kristi’s new book!

If you use Twitter, you can find Tom's of Maine on there @TomsofMaine or on Facebook.com/TomsofMaine.

Does anyone else deal with a rough morning? Have you had any success with switching things up?

our favorite kids' toothpaste!  my bad mornings consist of my kids getting up too early! lol

Well crap I wish that was all my "bad" mornings consisted of. Want to know my recent "bad" mornings? Lets see, yesterday morning, my 5 year old accidentally dumped an entire jug of juice all over the kitchen floor. And my 2 year old dumped an entire box of cereal all over the floor. They were trying to get their own breakfast without waking me up (I've been brain sick for 2 weeks now, so they were trying to help. It was sweet but not helpful).

The day before yesterday? I woke up with my 2 year old standing beside my bed saying poopoo and showing me his foot. I thought he had pooped and his diaper didn't hold or something. Nope. One of the dogs barfed all over the dining room floor and my son stepped in it. We have hard wood floors. Except under a fish tank in the dining room, where we have a throw rug. Guess where the dog barfed? Yes, on the only carpet in the house, which lays under a 120lb fish tank. Woop woop.

Can't get him to brush his teeth?  What's his favorite toy?  Yank it, send him to school sans brushing teeth, and keep the toy until he gives in.  Then give it back.  If he starts playing footsy again over such a ridiculous issue, find a larger currency.  Tell him if he goes back to not brushing his teeth, you are giving his favorite toy to the Salvation Army.  Then do it.

I've not had this flavor, but I like Tom's toothpaste and mouth rinse.

My daughter uses this. It's wonderful.

I use Tom's toothpaste and deodorant myself. I'm tired of putting chemicals on my body everyday.

My son uses this too and likes it okay.

That's awesome! My niece & nephew are getting to that age so I'll have to pass this on.

I LOL'd when I read that he would just stand there & stare at the toothpaste- I used to do that with liquid meds & when mum left the room I would pour it down the sink. ;]
