  • Which Bottles Would You Recommend?

We need to start buying baby stuff, but I can't decide what bottles to use. Recommend the type/brand of bottles that you use to help me out!

    *versus*

With my son I used Playtex Ventaire and they worked great. Zero issues. All my friends used Dr. Browns. They both reduce gas and colic, but Dr. Browns cost more for a 3-pack than Playtex.

    Any suggestions? Preferences?

i use dr. brown's for my daughter. it's worth it in my opinion. i'm actually selling 7 of them for $25 right now! 4 4oz bottles and 3 8oz bottles.:)

The Dr. Brown's bottles didn't do crap for my daughter. They were leaky and annoying to clean and I didn't see any difference in her fussiness after using them. And she still spit up a ton.

I really liked the Playtex Drop Ins. They're super easy...you can get the Target brand of 100 re-fills for like $5. Her spit up was almost totally eliminated after switching to these bottles.

But, all babies are different, obviously. Hope you find a brand that works well for you. :)

I used Playtex Drop-Ins for both of my boys and loved it. Never had any issues with spit up or colic. They were both naturally gassy, so I also used a drop of Mylicon in every bottle. I also experimented with Gripe Water and loved it.

The other bottle that I really loved, which wasn't for an every time feeding was the Podee.  It was SUPER convenient for traveling and for when you need another hand.

I love the Nuby bottles myself (and all my kids have loved them because of the little nubs on the nipples and they are easy for a little one to learn to hold) but its not listed sooooo.... my vote is for the Playtex.. I have only used them for two little guys.. one a new born and the other had real bad reflux and I thought they were great...
I gave away my set of Dr Brown's because my guy hated them.
I have found different babies prefer different bottles.. but ive had most success with Playtex (and Nuby of course =)

When my son was born there was only playtex which I didn't mind at all at first but my son did get colics . I'm glad there are more options. I see my Godson's mom use Dr.brown for her premie baby, and he's now like 4-5 months he has no problems. I would really choose Dr. Brown and I'm sure the few extra dollars will be worth it for you new born. =D Best of luck!

I used Playtex Drop-ins for my youngest when she was born.  Then I switched to VentAir when she needed a bigger bottle.  My oldest was on Avent and it was harder to wean her off those bottles than it was for me to wean the younger one off of the Playtex.

I used Playtex drop ins for my first daughter and loved them.  Then my second daughter came along and refused to take that bottle.  I was freaking out!  I finally tried Dr. Browns and have had a lot of success.  I think it all depends on the baby.  They all have their preferences, so just start with something and if it doesn't work, then switch.  It can get costly, but that's just how it goes sometimes.

I used Tommy Tippee bottles, the ones that I used are shaped like a boob for people combing breastfeeding and bottle feeding, so my input is probably no help! I haven't seen any of the ones you mentioned, we probably don't have them where I live.

I use Avent. My daughter liked the wide base around the nipple, and hated the Playtex because she would suck the whole entire nipple into her mouth, all the way down to the plastic ring. My cousin uses Dr. Brown and I don't like them. They leak a lot. I also didn't like Playtex Ventaire because it had so many parts. Avent has an extra ring to seal it, but that's it.

I used Dr. Brown and it didn't do jack for my son.  Turns out, all we had to do was stir the formula, and all his issues were gone.  And we actually ended up using the Parent's Choice bottles after that with no issues at all.  It also took me FOREVER to clean those Dr. Brown bottles because of all the parts.  It's like dismantling a car and putting it back together.

With my son we used Playtex Dropins and The vent air. The vent air where a pain, they leaked and had so many parts. The only problem with the Drop ins were my son never finished the bottle until he was older and the plastic was a pain when he did that. With my next one, I'm leaning more towards Avent ones.

we use Avent and have never had any issues!

My daughter and I both were really happy with the Platex Vent-Aires!  We tried several different brands and types of bottles before settling, though - it's trial and error for each baby and every baby is different, I believe.

Vent-aires worked GREAT with both of my kids. I really liked drop-ins too while I was breasfeeding/pumping and feeding because I rarely needed bottles and clean up was easy. However when I switched to formula feeding, the drop-ins became too expensive and went exclusively vent-aires

Born Free. Hands down. I used them for pumped breast milk when I went on dates with my hubby.

  • mstigerfrogs@xanga

I use The First Years Breastflow bottle.  They're great for breastfeeding mothers b/c it's easier to switch back and forth.
