Lol that is pretty darn true! I remember both my sisters being covered head to toe in peanut butter on numerous occasions and shortening on a few occasions as well!

I can be a jerk by saying this, I suppose, but two kids later and I've never once dealt with the "actually". Perhaps it's also the incredibly bad day I've had, but I can't seem to find an ounce of it cute either. I retract that statement, even on a good day I probably wouldn't think it's cute or funny.

I'd say hoo raaa to anyone who actually gets all the way through the toddler years WITHOUT the last picture in some form or another. You are a rare breed and obvious deserving of standing over others and judging them. Well done, pat on the back. On the other hand. No, at the time these things are not in any way funny but when you look back and remember the terrible messes or 'creative art' that toddlers are prone to create. I have to chuckle after the fact. I only wish that in the moments any of my children had made a mess that I would have thought to take a picture for later stories. Instead I quickly clean it up and talk to them about why they are not to get in the fridge, cabnets, coffee grounds, paint, sugar, shaving gel, toilet paper, shampoo, tampons (yes tampons) and anything else they discover that looks and feels so fun to them at the time. Children are very different. My oldest once got into lipstick at 2 yrs old and had drawn me beautiful pictures all over the entertainment center and her when I walked out of the kitchen from making dinner. I had thought she was playing quietly, now I know why. Here she is smiling and so proud of her 'art work'. These are important moments. I walked out of the room, took some deep breaths and walked back in. Took the lipstick and told her that it is a no no to get into mommies purse and that drawing is for paper only. We both cleaned up the mess and I never had another incident with her. Now she is 17. Fast forward 14 years and 2 of my toddlers now are very different. One is very clean and wouldn't dream of getting anything dirty on her but she is the master mind. Her sister who is 18mo younger and 3 now loves tactile touch so she LOVES to get her hands dirty. I have found the two of them in some of the messiest situations I could imagine. I think they are playing nicely in their room but little do I know they have snuck something in there and are creating 'art work' all over the place. Understanding one childs needs for tactile experiences are important. I've found that if I provide lots of sand, beans, clay, finger painting opportunities it does cut down the amount of times she will seek out her own forms. If I have her 4yr old sister help her it builds that natural leadership quality in a healthy way. I'm just thankful that to those who obviously do not have the ability to laugh through life and the things are children do are able to have children that don't stretch them too far.
@Carebear - I have important moments with my children. They create beautiful works of art on their own with the supplies they are given. They also know food goes in your mouth, if you make a mess you're going to clean it up, and if it's not a toy or it's not yours...you shouldn't play with or touch it.
I WILL give myself a pat on the back for raising my children to know what the word, "NO" means. I WILL give myself a pat on the back for raising my children to know better. I wasn't judging anyone, but you did a very miraculous job of assuming that I was. I simply said that it wasn't cute. I simply said that I've never once had to deal with it.

@TiPrometto@xanga - I agree. I have a sister that is a toddler and has never done the last thing and if she did I'd be highly annoyed. But I still laugh at the cute things she does. I guess that's really strange since people like us don't have the ability to laugh...
@TiPrometto@xanga - I agree with you. I'm not a mother yet and I could see myself getting so mad at that. I hate cleaning up peanut butter on a spoon. I couldn't even imagine cleaning it off my child. Food is to eat, not to play with.
its terrible and i have no patience but i love them so much and when they wake up i want them to be asleep and then when they are sleeping i miss them a lot and i want to wake em up to play again crazy right???
and my two kids are crazy cuz im a very loving stay home mom, never hit them but i yell a lot so they do a lot of crazy thing and the only thing that i do is time out and still they they get away with a lot of stuff that make me mad but they are so cute, everybody raise their kids diferents ways and you deal with the consequences@eileenR@xanga -
