  • Congratulations, Mommy!

Living in the circle of mommy's world is not is absolutely far away from my reality. I was so convinced that I would have children at the 27-30 age range after having a stable career. Even if I remain single till I am old, I also have this dream of being a career women, adopting a cute daughter and traveling the world with my single friends.

I knew something was wrong when I missed my period for a month last year. The notion of women's strong 6th-sense is true, I had the feeling that I was pregnant. Because i did not have the gut to go to the clinic, I waited till a month later.

The first thing doctor said, after taking my urine sample was: "Congratulations, Mommy! You are 9 weeks pregnant!"

From that moment, I knew there was a living fetus with heartbeat staying in my body, my womb, my uterus. I was no longer one person. Initially it seemed weird but fortunately, the doctor told me that it felt normal not to have a "strong bond" with baby yet because I had not yet seen a baby shape yet.

As time went by, my mind would visualize the shape of baby, the heartbeat that keep beating in my body and sucking thumb of baby now!

Dear moms, what was the first thing a doctor said to you of your pregnancy?

I dont have kids yet but mom said when she first saw my ultrasound, she asked the doctor why I was clapping & he told her that was my heartbeat. LOL

Aw, congrats. I don't have kids yet, but I can't wait to hear those words!

  • Face_Of_Innocence@xanga

I hope what they say if they find out I'm pregnant is "I'm so sorry, but it's positive."

  • dream_guru5@xanga

"Congratulations, you guys are expecting company" and he had to go more detailed because we weren't thinking I'd be pregnant and I didn't think I'd be able to get pregnant at all.

  • GodsDucks@xanga

with this last pregnancy, it was "back again!"

I am unsure of the others.... :p

I want a doctor that will say, "Yep, there's gonna be an alien poppin' out your vag in a few months. Here's an appointment card for your next visit. SEE YA!"

    Hah.

When my husband and I went in (four months before our wedding, at the time), the Dr. said congrats, then paused and asked if he should be saying congrats. We nodded excitedly, and then it was like a party. Much laughing and happiness.

Those would be such beautiful words to hear! :) Well, not for me at this point in my life, but once I have a few things straightened out, anyway. lol

I had absolutely no symptoms at all until at least 10 weeks in, if not a little later. The only reason why I found out I was pregnant when I did (at a little over 5 weeks) was because while I was at the doctor's office getting a note for work, they brought to my attention that I hadn't had a period in a while. I was used to having a very irregular period - maybe once every two months, sometimes even three months - so I thought nothing of it. But since they wanted to rule out pregnancy (or rule it in), they ushered me to the bathroom to take a test.

After I returned to my room to wait for the result, a good five minutes of silence passed where the words in my head began to deafen me. Over and over again, I told myself: I'm not pregnant, I'm not pregnant, I'm not pregnant. The door opened, the doctor stepped in and without hesitation, simply said "Well, you're definitely pregnant." So I sat in shock and disbelief as the air in the room suddenly felt different and uncomfortable. Knowing how unlikely and how improbable it would be for me to be with child, I couldn't accept it. The doctor was pregnant herself - probably near the end of the third term - and she understood my denial and was kind.

@pHdDaNcEr@xanga - Wow, that is almost word for word what happened to me! I was always having irregular periods, so when they made me take a urine test to "rule out pregnancy" at my annual exam I was not even phased. Then the doc came in and was like "So we ran your ruitine pregnancy test...and it did come back positive". I was the first person she'd ever told, and she clearly wasn't comfortable doing it. I was in total shock, I don't think I even replied. Then in my brain I was just like "No, this cannot be happening...."

But here I am with a 3 year old, so it obviously was.

This time around I did a test at home, so the one at the docs to confirm was pretty anti-climactic.

"Well you definitely are pregnant. Now let's go get some blood work done."

  • DarkMeru@xanga

actually my drs never really confirmed it lol.  We already knew for sure tho we had been keeping track of ovulation, and had two positive tests and a positive ovulation strip.  We only tried for a few months.

@SHEERROSE@xanga - I mean, that was just this past September. I'm currently 5 days away from being in my third trimester. Due 25 May with a little boy.

@vlinder_farfalla@xanga - It's a shocking thing to hear! Even if you've planned for it to happen, I would imagine. It's kind of as life-altering as it gets.

With my first one, our PCP at the time said "Well, the test is positive"...I basically had to pick my mouth up from the floor.

With the second, it showed up instantly on the HPT. But, I took like 8 because I was in shock and didn't think it was true.

I already knew before I even took the home pregnancy test.  The test at the doctor's office was imply done for their own confirmation.  That must have been clear to the nurse I saw because she simply said, " Yup, you're pregnant!"  The home preg test was the best though, physical validation of everything I was feeling inside.  And of course the first real confirmation that my husband got.  It can be real emotional turmoil thinking you are pregnant bfore you take the test.  I just felt a sense of peace and happiness once I had taken it and saw the proof in front of me.

  • GirlJournal@xanga

I already knew when I went to the doctor but he said "You are pregnant. Is that good news or bad news?" Im 19 and just started college and I guess I was a little confused. So I said "it's just news."
