  • Beyonce's Celebrity Status Causes Father To Not Be Able To Visit Premature Twins

Apparently, when you are a celebrity and completely loaded, you can have an entire hospital mess up operations and visiting hours for other new parents. This is exactly what happened to one Brooklyn father when he tried to visit his premature twins at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Completely ridiculous measures were put in place, like blocking NICU windows with tape and curtains and having medical staff basically shut down, and for what? For a "celebrity"?

Family members who drove hours to see precious premature babies were kept away. It's reported that Beyonce and Jay-Z "rented" the entire FLOOR for $1.3 million. Yes, the hospital does have suites and family rooms that can be rented, but is it really necessary to reserve the entire floor?

Talk about no respect for other parents!

No respect, indeed.  And for some reason, people still worship the ground they walk on.  It's insane.

  • Lost_In_Reverie@xanga

That's absolutely terrible, and incredibly selfish. If she was going to cause such a fuss about it, she should have just had the baby at home.

  • written_conversations@xanga

That's awful :( if she was that concerned, she should have had her child at home. Disgusting abuse of "power".

  • Megabyyte@xanga

Shame on the hospital for allowing that. And, really, c'mon. Renting a whole floor of a hospital? Totally unecessary. Must be nice to waste 1.3 million dollars, like that. Stupid celebrities and their overinflated sense of self. Seriously.

  • phallucinations@xanga

How irritating. Hospitals are always in high demand as is, and yet the hospital chose the money over their patients. Not to mention that she could have had the birth in the comfort of her own freakin' mansion. So selfish of both of the hospital and the two parents.

  • LadyGwenivere@xanga

Honestly, I hope every family that was denied being able to see their babies sues the pants off this couple. Talk about selfish.
NICU babies NEED as much love and affection from their parents as possible. (every baby does of course, but especially those in NICU). I know a friend of mine spends 2 hours a day in NICU with his baby while his wife is home sleeping.
If she wanted to be so blasted selfish she should have birthed at home or in a birthing center and been a little more considerate to other families. She was not the only one having a baby.

  • DrakonFyre@xanga

I agree with @Megabyyte@xanga. Shame on the hospital.

It's sad how easily they cater to the absurd whims of people just because they are loaded. If I as a father had been denied the right to visit my own children because some celebrity was in the building, I'd raise HELL, sue, go to the press, and just as a whole go absolutely batshit crazy.
  • raspberryjade@xanga

that is seriously wrong. my sister was a preemie baby and I can't even imagine being told I can't see her because a celebrity couple "rented" the floor.

I really liked beyonce but that's disgusting what she did.

@LadyGwenivere@xanga - I was going to say the same thing.  If I were the parents who were affected by their selfishness, I would sue them.

When I read they rented the whole floor, I was thinking what about the other women that were going to give birth while she was there.  There are birthing centers she could have used if she wanted privacy and the safety of having medical equipment and operating rooms just in case something happened.  The hospital should have just told them no.  I know I would have if I were in the position to make that decision.

  • boilingicicle@xanga

hah. go ahead keep looking up to celebrities, and keep trusting the mainstream medical establishments. they really have YOUR best interests at heart. but, no money no love...

  • boilingicicle@xanga

on second thought i can see why they thought they needed to take a whole floor... privacy for celebrity..... question, is that the kind of hospital that serves people who tend to be tacky loose-headed fans that have little sense of boundaries? if chances of running into several maniacs are high, then i'd say their extravagant rental was justified

  • Movere@xanga

Absolutely disgusting. Get over yourself. Money doesn't make you better than anyone TO EVERYONE who wants to say something to the hospital, here you go:

    http://www.lenoxhillhospital.org/contact.aspx

That's the site to contact them and leave "general comments". I think they should issue a public apology if they haven't already and I think we should persuade them to do so.
  • o0_Gina_0o@xanga

    Wow, Absolutely ridiculous..

  • designlessthts@xanga
  • Call_Me_Momma01@xanga

That is so selfish and ridiculous

  • QuantumStorm@xanga

I guess I don't have as much issue with them renting it, so long as they're paying for it. But preventing other parents from seeing THEIR kids? That's not cool.

  • Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga

Supposedly when the Beckhams were expecting their youngest son, Cruz, they wanted to reserve the floor of the hospital & they were told they dont even do that for ROYALTY. I doubt they could rent the whole floor. If they're concerned for their baby's safety, they should keep the newborn in the room with Beyonce as some hospitals do that. I'm pissed about this news but I'm more angry at the hospital for allowing this. ALL THE BABIES IN THE HOSPITAL ARE IMPORTANT, not just Beyonce's.

The parents are owed an apology from the hospital & the idiot couple. I've been over Beyonce. This is horribly selfish & ignorant to other parents. She's not the first & only woman to have a baby.

I was born in that hospital too. It's very nice. I wonder why they allowed this.

  • undeclared1@xanga

I dont know I kind of see the point. Beyonce and other celebrities are stalked and in constant danger having people know where they are at all times. They were concerned about their safety and the safety of their baby. It is the hospitals fault for setting this up but not being able to accommodate the other families as well.

  • babybug329@xanga

I agree with the other readers.  It is pretty selfish to have "rented" a whole floor.  Surely all those other babies need love and care, and every parent who has their baby (or babies) in the NICU would want to visit their child(ren).  If they were that concerned, couldn't they have set up a clean room in their home and rented the medical equipment needed?  This morning I heard some crazy news on the radio that she might have had a surrogate, which is why they wanted/needed all this "privacy."  There is no shame in using a surrogate, if that is what you needed (because one's womb couldn't sustain the pregnancy), or even if you WANTED to as long as you can afford to properly compensate for medical bills and time.  Why pretend to pregnant when you weren't!?

  • WaitingToShrug@xanga

I don't get why it's a problem to rent the floor. I mean... they're paying for it... so how is that selfish? Every single person on this site has probably said at one time or another that at a time like birth, you need to do what's best FOR YOU. Why is it different for her? I mean, there was even a website dedicated solely for the public to check if "Babyonce" was born yet. Seriously, all it was, was the words "NOT YET!". That's how crazy people are to see their kid asap. So, I think it was a good thing to pay for the whole floor. If they hadn't, imagine if a throng of paparazzi got up there- how much more inconvenient that would be for the non-celebrity moms.

It doesn't really say why other parents were blocked, and that I don't get. If the baby were on the floor that was blocked off, I don't understand how parents of children on other floors would be affected, but I doubt that it's Beyonce's fault. Probably a casualty of the hubbub going on in the hospital.

LOL, I'm not even a fan and @QuantumStorm@xanga, @undeclared1@xanga , and I are the only ones able to see another point of view.

  • asrial86@xanga

Firstly, considering in America, hospitals and healthcare are considered a "business" and not a human right, of COURSE a hospital is going to opt into receiving 1.3million for a celeb renting out a wing of the hospital.  No "business" would say no to that kind of money, even hospitals here would not say no because they could use that money for new machines/equipment/resources.

    HOWEVER.

To disallow another HUMAN BEING from seeing THEIR CHILD is ridiculous.  Beyonce and Jay-Z are no more important human beings than the other mothers and fathers in there with their children.  Security should have been limited to being around the family and that's it.  Not interfering with the lives of others.

If anything was selfish, it was Beyonce/Jay-Z for deciding to hijack a hospital for their own use.

  • articulate_silence@xanga

I can understand their need for privacy, as a celebrity couple I'm sure the papparazzi would have lovedd to try snooping around. But if you are that famous, worried about privacy and can throw down that much money to rent a hospital floor, why not just have a home birth? I'm sure they could probably afford anything they needed for an in-home birth.

Man, the more I think about it.. tossing away $1.3 million just to insure some privacy. I can't even imagine spending that much money on anything!

  • Whatsthat

If they were so concerned about privacy, they should have had a home birth instead of inconveniencing so many other families. It's absolutely ridiculous that Jay-z and Beyonce obviously feel that their babies are much more important than the other babies who actually need special care in order to save their lives.
