Could you imagine spending 10 weeks, day and night, in that position? Only being allowed to get up to to the bathroom? Having to eat in that position?! One mom did it, and now has a healthy and thriving little girl!
Damage to her cervix caused her baby to drop too low, and to avoid a miscarriage her doctors put her on a unique form of bed rest - upside down!
A previous natural birth may have caused the cervical damage, which resulted in two miscarriages (one at 23 weeks, one at 19 weeks) before this
upside down saving grace.
When her water broke six weeks early, she gave birth to a tiny 4lb 15oz via emergency c-section, who spent two weeks in the NICU before going home is now thriving and healthy.
Moms will do anything!

Wow, that's incredible! I had bed rest, but not upside down and not for 10 whole weeks. That would definitely be, uh, interesting (I hated bed rest). And the birth of her baby sounds an awful lot like mine, 6 weeks early, 4lbs 13 oz and mine also spent exactly 2 weeks in the NICU.
I would do it! I would probably go crazy but I would still do it :)
I've had 2 miscarriages myself and if there had been anything (and yes, I really mean, anything!) I could have done to prevent them, I would have. Praise God this Mama and baby are both alive and well. :)
Wow. Glad she and baby were able to pull through!
Amazing. That is the meaning of true love.
This is what you call a parent.
Aw, this is amazing :)
Are guys allowed to comment here?
Saw a friend rec this, and I was curious. I'm glad I clicked. This is an awesome story, and an awesome mom. I knew you couldn't all be evil
that's so awesome! I'm just glad to hear that everyone is okay. :)
That's amazing! I was on bedrest when pregnant with my twins for 2 1/2 months, I can't imagine doing it at that angle, but I would have if I needed to
Whoa. I hope the baby stays healthy and all goes well from now on!
I'm surprised it worked but if a doctor told me to do it I would. I thought it was an idea from an old wives' tale or something.
i have a ton of respect for women that will do that for their child.
Oh my god! "A previous natural birth may have caused the cervical damage" ?? My wife is 4 months pregnant and we are seriously considering natural birth!
What about natural birth could damage the cervix? Maybe one day we can use nanotechnology to repair damaged cells and organs. I'm very sensitive to news like this! Natural birth shouldn't cause something so terrible. Time to show this to my wife.
My mom had to quit school. Same thing happened to her when she was pregnant with me.
wow
@Jonny@mancouch - I understood it to mean that her cervix was damaged due to the natural proccess of pregnancy/birth. Natural birth is a great thing and I wouldn't rethink it just because of this article.
In a heartbeat
6 weeks early and already that big
?
that's awesome she did this. But I'd do i too I think. She will not regret it
