Would You Sell Your Baby's First Photos?

You see these magazine covers every time a celebrity has a baby - the magazine offers them thousands, even millions (Brangelina reportedly received $11 MILLION, which they donated to charity) to publish the first photos of their new baby. It's a ridiculous sum of money for something so personal, but it makes the everyday family wonder...
Would you sell your baby's first photos to a magazine if they offered cold hard cash?
What amount would make you do it?

probably. with that kind of money i could have a nicer house with a bigger backyard for my kids to run around in, i'd never have to worry if we'll be able to afford everything next month and i'd be able to put them both through the college of their choice.
as long as everyone is dressed in the photo...i think i would.not a chance. Im way too protective of my little ones.
Plus you never know what someone is going to do with those photos. I don't even put pics of my children on FB.
@grizzlybearr@xanga - Me too. Everything you said.
Aw well the money was donated to charity. I think if I was their kid and found out I unknowingly helped donate lots of money to charity, I wouldn't mind!
Duh lol. Who the hell wouldn't?
Hell yeah I'd sell it! It's not like I would keep the pictures protected in some safe in my house, preventing anybody else from seeing them....ever. So if someone is dumb enough to buy a photo, I will be glad to take up the offer.
For that amount? Yeah.
Yes. I wouldn't mind.
It depends on the magazine...
I'd do it...
The sad thing is America eats this shit up. Who would pay millions of dollars for these kind of pictures? How does this benefit the consumer? Obviously if Americans didnt buy these magazines, the magazines would not invest this kind of money into these photos. It's pathetic and only an example of how America's priorities are messed up. For example, more Americans are more concerned with celebrity gossip, but cannot name their own members of Congress for their state? Think about it.
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - you'd turn down a sum like 11 MILLION dollars? really?
@written_conversations@xanga - i can honestly say that yes, when it come to the safety and privacy of my children, yes. You cannot place a money value on the safety of family. It is our job as parents to protect our children.. selling their photos to the highest bidder is not protecting them. Its using them for selfish gain.
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - Right, donating $11M to charity is sooo selfish.
take the money and set it aside for the kid's college education. duh
@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - its not about the money, or what is done with the money, its about the privacy of the children. And as I said, there is no amount enough to jeopardize the safety and privacy of my children. They could pay me 20 million, and I could donate it all, but what good would that be if some freak decided to stalk and attack my children because they saw their pictures in a magazine? No thanks.
I've thought about submitting my daughter's picture to a child model search if it ever was open (Huggies or Pampers something legit).
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - I'm just unsure as to how a simple photograph endangers anyone. I am not aware of how having a photo of a baby gives someone any advantage if they wanted to harm that child.
@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - easy. My god daughter was nearly kidnapped by her estranged mother after a picture of her in a modeling show was printed in a large city newspaper. The estranged mother called the paper, found out where the photo was taken, and tracked the girl down.
(I say estranged because she signed away her rights when the baby was 3 days old, abandoned the baby in my friend's house and disappeared for 3 years). It was a terrible ordeal, and 11 years later she still has nightmares about being stalked.
If I was already rich and made that kind of money all the time, probably not. As it is now, and our finances are a mess, I'd say Hell Yes! sign me up for 11 million (You can even have a picture of me in surgery for an extra million).
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - That is a very different situation than a national magazine printing photos of already famous people.
@lifeonacitybusem4@xanga - thats your opinion, and i disagree. each to their own
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - yeah, but it's not as though they'd HAVE to include your location or anything like that :-/ your family member only did something because she knew how to contact you anyway. Joe Bloggs on the street isn't going to know where you live unless it's published.
