Homemade Hair Products
Today I'm going to give you guys 2 natural recipes using products in your own kitchen. The first one is a homemade sea salt spray which is known for giving hair some natural looking beach waves and the second recipe is for a homemade hair spray!
Homemade Sea Salt Spray
What You'll Need:
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of sea salt **do NOT use just regular table salt!! It will not give you waves**
Spray bottle **I used an old spray bottle I already have, but you can go buy one for a dollar store as well :)**
1. Put the 2 cups of water into a pot and heat it up. Do NOT bring it to a boil, just the burner off right before it boils :)
2. Add your 2 tablespoons of sea salt and stir until almost dissolved
3. Pour into your spray bottle...and voila!
To use the spray, just spray some in your hair and scrunch it. How much you use will depend on how thick your hair is and how wavy you want your hair :)
Homemade Hair Spray
What You'll Need:
1 lemon **you can also use an orange**
2 cups of water
Spray bottle
Strainer
1. Slice lemon into wedges
2. Place in pot and cover with 2 cups of water. Bring it to a boil.
3. Take pot off the burner and allow to cool
4. Strain pot contents and put liquid into spray bottle...and voila!
This recipe has to be in the fridge due to the lemon and you can keep in there for a week :) If you find the spray is too sticky just add water until you get your desired "stickiness" :)
Hope you guys enjoyed these recipes!! I love both of them and use them both quite a bit :)
Have you ever made your own hair products? What have you made and how did you like it?

This is interesting, I may have to try the hair spray, though lemon lightens my hair so I'm not sure.
Interesting. I'll make this and see how it goes. (:
For the sea spray, you need to add a hydrating ingredient in there otherwise it's a wreck on the hair. I use coconut oil (because it smells pretty!) or if I'm broke then a little of my normal conditioner to mix in.
Thanks! I feel limited because I no longer use commercial products in my hair but now I have a couple more "sprays" to style with :)
@xllxo0o_0_Kara_0_o0oxllx@xanga - any conditioner will do? (:
If you dye your hair or want to keep it dark, I don't recommend using lemon.
@Jellieberrie@xanga - Yup :)
I've made:
*hair cleansers (apposed to using a commercial shampoo).
>didn't like it that much but i got a lot of compliments on my hair when i had been using it regularly.
*Deep conditioners and various hair masks
>anything deep conditioning is good for my hair
*color enhancers and color rinses. also lightened my hair with these
> pleased with them
I also will mix honey in with my shampoo before washing. (i just keep honey in my shower and put equal amounts of each in my hand, mix and shampoo as usual. it's water soluble and rinses right out)
I love DIY beauty, or just DIY in general lol
I'm definitely trying the hair spray! We have some many lemons going to waste in our backyard. :/
