Homemade Oven Fries
My 2nd trimester pregnancy craving? French Fries.
In an attempt to lighten up on the calories and grease, I found this amazing recipe for oven fries. The ingredients are not really the secret to the amazing part. I believe the secret lies in baking them on a wire rack. They come out so crispy and evenly browned!
Yum-my!
1 1/2 lb baking potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 in. thick strips
1 Tbsp. veg oil (olive oil is fine too)
1 tsp. salt (I used sea salt)
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Rinse potatoes in cold water. Drain and pat dry. Toss together potatoes, oil, and salt in a large bowl. Spray wire rack lightly with cooking spray. Place rack in a jelly-roll pan. Arrange potatoes in a single layer. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
Serve immediately with ketchup, of course.

yum! that was my craving too.............with salt and vinegar and curry sauce and melted cheese on it
yum yum yum!!!!
This makes me miss living at home. I used to make these all the time! I would cook them on a baking sheet, though.
I love oven roasted fries!!! They are the best!! Sprinkling a little paprika would give a nice flavor to it as well
LOVE making oven fries. I keep them skins on and have a field day with seasoning. I've looked up recipes for seasoning ideas, and the one I like best is: salt, pepper, garlic powder (or salt), chili powder and cayenne pepper. I'm pretty liberal with the seasoning and don't measure any of it. I just put it all on there until it looks right to me. Then I put oil on them, mix everything together and put them in the oven on a sheet tray. They take around 30 mins to cook at 425 (or 400. I don't remember which at the moment), and I turn them 1/2 way through. They come out a lovely golden brown, and they have a decent crisp to them.
gooooood times! Fries will always have a place in my heart and my stomach. Hooray for starch!
Hey, I'm not pregnant, and those sound good. Although I probably wouldn't peel the potatoes -- just scrub them real good.
Hm.. never tried making fries myself but we buy the frozen fries and bake them instead of frying. Comes out so crispy! Yum!
I have the biggest craving for french fries in this pregnancy, too!!
I love making fries myself. because I know exactly how much oil and salt is in them!these are practically the same as jo jos. I've never tried putting them directly on the rack, though! I'll have to try that!@LilMizfoodie4891@xanga - skins are where all the vitamins are at
