According to
In Touch Weekly, it's confirmed that Jessica Simpson is pregnant and the father is, of course, her fiance, Eric Johnson. If you Google this right now, be prepared for the "Is she or isn't she?" posts showcasing multiple pictures for comparison. Chances are, this "news" will be all over the social media networks by the end of the day.
So why is this news?
Sure, it's exciting for JESSICA and her family, to be having a baby after so much heartbreak and public speculation. But why is this news? Why is any "celebrity" baby news-worthy? The average pregnancy isn't celebrated to the extent of the famous. The average divorce or new relationship isn't either.
Either way, congratulations to them. Now you're in for more paparazzi as they try to determine due date, baby's gender, when your baby shower will be, and what the nursery will look like!

Anything celebrities do is considered news-worthy by the entertainment industry. However, if there wasn't an audience for it, they wouldn't be reporting it. I think us "regular" folks can take partial blame for it. We're the ones watching and caring.
Congrats to them. Since Jessica couldn't even fold clothes on her reality show, I wonder how she'll handle the huge responsibility of having a baby. Hmmmm, maybe that's why people are paying attention.
What!? Really she's pregnant? Wow this is the first I heard!
I actually thought she would have had kids a lot sooner if she didn't divorce Nick but good for her and her fiance. I'm sure the media will go crazy with photos of her baby bump and pictures of her baby.
Well it got your attention to post about it. So that is why. Once we stop acting like we don't care, stop reading about them, and writing about them they will no longer be news. :) This is the 1st I heard of it.
... who said anyone cared? that's what i want to know...
I think it's only natural that her fans would care. If you admire someone, and you're interested in them, then of course you'll be intrigued when they announce major events in their lives. I'm not a fan of hers (not a hater, either, just neutral), but I am a Beyonce fan, so for me it was kind of cool when she announced she was pregnant. I didn't go crazy with excitement or anything but I did think, Oh, that's nice. Lol.
Also, with the way the media hounds celebs over their looks/bodies, some people are bound to be curious about what their favorite stars look like with a baby bump/baby weight. Could be wrong, just a thought.
You obviously care - you wouldn't have posted about it otherwise.
you think that is too crazy to be news.....when I lived in Seoul I would read the English version of the Korea times online. One day one of their news stories was about Jessica Simpson farting during a meeting. I was thinking "wow they must have had a slow news day!"Jessica Simpson having a baby is much better news than a story about Jessica Simpson farting.
Because she probably had 14 abortions before this one.
@FallingSafely@xanga - HAHAHAHAHAHA unfortunately, you're probably right.
Speak for yourself chief. I couldn't give a bleeping bleep.
I don't care...nor do I care about random, everyday women's pregnancies. I don't want to hear about Jessica Simpson's, nor do I want to hear about some average lady's while I'm sitting on the bus. I just don't care, and I don't understand why pregnant people so often think that the rest of the world cares or ought to care. It's only special for the people directly involved.
Everyone cares because she's a nice person and many women can relate to everything that has happened to her in the spotlight. THAT'S WHY.
@flawedinsomniac@xanga - Amen to that!
why do people care? ask yourself. You made a post about it. Good God.
