Yesterday, TLC announced the end of "Kate Plus 8" (which used to be "Jon & Kate Plus 8, before the divorce and tabloids). The final episode will air September 12, but the network wants to do periodic check-ins versus a regular series.
Apparently Jon Gosselin is HAPPY the show is ending since it will allow the family more private moments. Kate took to Twitter to say that there were many tears at the breakfast table.
The kids are cute, Kate (with all of her 'work') looks fantastic for a mom of eight kids, but I am so glad to see this show end. Those kids need some stability and need to learn that you can't rely on "fame" to pay the bills.
Were you a fan of the show? Are you happy to see this show end or sad?

Kate may have looked great because of the nip tuck she did. And I wasn't a fan of that show anyway. But I didn't like Kate's character. And I agree with Jon, finally those children will be able to lead a normal life away from all the media attention which the show was not getting.
I never liked that show!! But it really doesnt matter to me if it airs or not... I dont watch tv anyway!
I never watched it. Jon + Kate + Eight was more of my cup-of-tea.
can't stand Kate, can't stand the show. Im glad its gone. I might actually watch TLC again.
I actually enjoyed both shows....Though I like Jon and Kate Plus 8 better. I'm a firm believer that this was a family that did what it had to do in order to survive. It's fine if you don't agree with me (I know several people who don't!) but it's just my opinion. I feel a bit sad that it's done but overall, kind of content with it. It's not upsetting me at all. Haha.
I've watched it for a few years now.
I like the show but I have mixed feelings on it. I agree with the previous poster that the family needs to learn they can't rely on fame to pay the bills. However, I HIGHLY COMMEND them on not deciding to play God by picking & choosing which children would die & which would live while still in the womb.
Therefore, I feel they deserved the show for a time & season so they could get the bigger house they needed for the kids. So they could get college funds going for the kids to help them pay their way through college. So they could be supplied with enough money to feed their children & clothe their children & have toys & educational things at home for their children. I can't imagine how different their lives would've been without the show. The KIDS deserved that help.
We have to admit, it's better TLC foot the bill to help those kids than taxpayers, right?
Although now I agree with others that Kate seems to be wrapped up more in her public image & being a tv icon than being a mom. She seems to be getting more selfish rather than less. I feel bad for her because no matter how awful she was, she did NOT deserve to have Jon cheat on her. He should've been honest with himself & with her & simply divorced her BEFORE seeing other people. So I have NOTHING GOOD to say about Jon. I just hope he's doing right by those kids now days.
I do hope that people forget about Kate & focus more on the kids during the sporadic updates on TLC in the future. I'm glad they'll be doing those. I'm very interested in how the kids grow up.
All in all, I agree that it was time to move on.
@MyTwoCentss@xanga - I completely agree with you. :)
@MyTwoCentss@xanga - I totally agree with you, as well! :)
I hated Kate. Still can't stand her. So thankful the show is over and the kids can finally have some much needed privacy.
I'm with some of the other commenters, I'm glad the kids will finally have some privacy. However, I am a bit concerned since Kate has found herself in a position to be more concerned about her looks than raising her children right. But then again, normal lives doesn't make for exciting TV....either way I don't really care if the show is on or not, I can choose not to watch it.
@MyTwoCentss@xanga - I agree. I watched the show every once in a blue moon while at my mom's house but from what I saw, yeah. What you said :)
I've never seen it, but I'm kind of wondering why people think that they will not be in the spotlight anymore. They're celebrities now, and it's obvious even to a non-viewer that their parents enjoy the attention. I have no doubt that they will continue to get media attention, endorsement deals, books written... etc.
@Jennifer Costa Madsen@facebook - Honestly, if she & Jon were smart then they'd have invested a LOT of money into different things. If that is the case & they knew where to diversify their investments, they may not have to work.
As someone else mentioned, I'm sure they'll still be in the spotlight here & there & getting paid for those interviews, etc. Plus, the book(s) they have out will be giving them royalties annually I believe.
It is possible that they've established themselves enough in the media that they may be able to get by without having to hold traditional jobs again. It just depends on how smart they were with their money and how smart they are with their spending.
Those are just my thoughts though. Who knows the realities of it.
I always had an issue with the way Kate was. I do not think she's the greatest mother, and I do not think she was the greatest wife either. I'm really disappointed in what she has created for her children through this show and not really showing them a normal upbringing. I wouldn't be surprised if her children end up with some kind of severe issues in the future. I hope not, but I guess we will see.
I'm glad the show is done and I hope that the children will not be impacted negatively by it.
