Tell Me Tuesdays: What Do Your Kids Want To Be When They Grow Up?
Ever since I was four-years-old I wanted to be a vet. That was until I was twelve. After watching numerous animal-related movies, animal hospital, and animal documentaries I realised that I couldn't be a vet due to if the time came to put an animal down, I didn't think I'd be able to do it. I get too emotionally involved with animals. And still, til this day, I believe that I wouldn't be able to be a vet due to that reason, no matter what people say about getting over it and used to it as it comes with the job. It's just not me.
But I still wanted to work with animals. I loved science and studied Biology and Chemistry throughout college and then went on to do Zoology at university. My parents believed that I was going to work with animals, too.
Funny how things change.
Now I'm out of university I've had a rapid change of heart as to what I want my career to be due to a number of reasons. Now I'm training to be a writer. People told me that I'd never be able to work with animals because I didn't get the grades or because of this reason and that reason. I wanted to prove them wrong and told myself constantly that I was going to be one of those people who worked her degree field.
Again, funny how things change.
Alana wants to be a vet and an interior designer when she's older. Jack wants to be a builder like his father. The twins, well who knows. When they get to that age maybe we'll find out what they'd like. I can't help but wonder though if that'll change or if they will go on to do what they're talking about.

I want my son to be a happy, confident, and well adjusted adult. I want him to enjoy what ever job he decides to have as an adult.
Well my daughter who is three just talked about this with me. She says she is already a doctor when mommy is sick, and she is a ballerina too. She said when I grow up I want to be a helicopter in the sky! lol
We'll what ever she want's to be I hope I can be as supportive and encouraging as she need's me to be.
I really HOPE that my daughter chooses that one thing that makes her feel fulfilled and like she's doing something good in the world and something she loves, because I think that's really important. But, she's only 2... So, I have no clue yet, lol.
My older brother wanted to be a fire truck for the longest time. Not a fireman, but the truck.
It changes with my son but is always one of these: pilot, firefighter, soldier or dentist. My daughter apparently just wants to be like her momma, her reply is "I wanna get married. And to cook and clean for my family" I'm obviously a sahm. Now hold on ladies and gentlemen, we do explain she can choose to have a career also if she wants and explain that not all women stay home.
