Pregnancy Surprises

There were things about pregnancy that I was surprised to learn...after I was already pregnant. For instance, no one told me that I'd have to make up all those missed periods from those 9 months of baby rearing with one really long one. When I found out, I was already 5 months pregnant with Izzy.
Did you know that pregnancy can do a number on your bladder? Like, make you pee when you sneeze, even long after giving birth?
This is my third pregnancy, and I just found out that it's the reason my gums bleed every time I brush my teeth. It didn't happen with Izzy or Gabby, and I was seriously starting to think I had a horrible case of gingivitis.
No one warned me that pregnancy could cause insomnia either (or make it worse). You always hear about pregnant women sleeping a lot.
Those are just the things that came to mind at the moment.
What surprises came with your pregnancy?

It's been over 5 years since my last pregnancy so I feel like this is my first time around again. Of course I notice some similarities between the two pregnancies, however, I feel like I'm experiencing more of being "pregnant" than I did with my daughter. With my daughter, aside from the common morning sickness, mild sciatica and exhaustion, it was pretty much a breeze for me. With this pregnancy, I had morning sickness up until almost 5 months and I am also experiencing the insomnia. I also feel much more exhausted and now I'm starting to experience shortness of breath which has really made it difficult for me to function doing anything. I also just recently experienced the bleeding gums. Initially, I thought I was brushing too hard but when I hardly brushed at all, I would still bleed. It doesn't happen all the time, however, when it does, it's really scary because it seems like so much blood!
I'm only 10 weeks pregnant and have never been pregnant before but I've already noticed some things that I didn't know about before I got pregnant:
1) I get low blood sugar around noon if I don't eat enough. Never had this problem before getting pregnant.
2) Morning sickness isn't just random pukes when you least expect it - it feels like an all day, really bad hangover.
3) Cravings can be the opposite. Instead of random stuff sounding good, everything sounds just awful!
That every pregnancy truly is different!!
I had the gums bleeding and I thought the same thing. I even went to the dentist and he almost laughed at me because I was so scared. My surprise was that men can get sympathy pains. I didn't know I was pregnant, but my boyfriend started to act really weird - getting SUPER sleepy, craving sweets a lot (he doesn't normally eat sweets), and even morning sickness (THAT was hilarious to me). Oh, and messing up sleep schedules. Some nights I couldn't fall asleep at all. It was horrible. OH, as crazy as this sounds, I was surprised I didn't get very big. I looked about 6 months pregnant at 9 months. My friend looked 6 months pregnant at 3 months. Part of me was expecting to be really big.
haha, no one told me it was going to be the easiest way to lose weight ever... the only thing that doesn't give me heartburn or make me feel sick is cherry pepsi and ice chips... ive lost 12 pounds... thank god for the prenatals!
