  • My Top 5 Things I Miss About NOT Being Pregnant

While I was laying in bed with the bestest guy in the world (my boyfriend)... I couldn't help but think of the things I miss about NOT being pregnant.
I'm fresh out of my 1st trimester and I know it's supposed to be all down hill from here but I've heard so many horror stories. I do not want morning sickness the whole 9-10 months!!!

    So here goes nothing:

    5. I miss being able to drink if I wanted to.

    4. I miss fitting into my skinny jeans with out having that little red line around my chubby tummy.

    3. I miss not being sick or light headed when I stand up suddenly or take a hot shower.

    2. I miss the taste of food. Everything tastes like chemicals now. Good side, I'm 15 weeks and still down 3 pounds.

    1. I miss being the one who gets cuddled, now I lay in bed and when he puts his hand on my tummy I get nauseous and when he puts his hand on my hip it feels heavy. =(

I'm hoping to come up with 5 things I love about being pregnant I just haven't thought of that many yet.

What did you miss about NOT being pregnant when you WERE pregnant?

When I was pregnant, my list was a lot like yours. I missed being able to have a drink with dinner or after a long day at work. Before 17 or so weeks I missed not being able to wake up and not puke first thing in the morning. I missed having my *own* body and I missed feeling attractive. Now that I'm not pregnant, though, I actually do miss it. I miss feeling the baby move around and having that bond that no one else in the world got to have. I miss the anticipation of her birth and getting things ready for her. I miss having everyone fuss over me!

I actually do love having my little girl here, and ultimately I'm glad not to be pregnant, but I think the survival of the human species depends on the ability of women to nostalgize even the most unpleasant of times because my first trimester was marked by puke, puke, and more puke, and my last was just super uncomfortable.... but damn it if in some moments in some days I don't miss having my little one tucked away safe and sound (and quiet ha!) inside my tummy.

I missed just the satisfaction of being able to eat a good meal AND keep it down, lol. I was one of those lucky ones who has morning sickness throughout the WHOLE pregnancy. Yeah.

Don't worry, soon enough you'll get your list of good things about pregnancy. Once I felt movement, it totally trumped every bad thing. Still, I had moments where I wanted my body back and couldn't wait to have her out of me, but once it was all over, I missed being pregnant, lol. It goes by a lot faster than it seems, especially while you're going through it. :)

Eating food and it not giving me horrible heartburn.  And sleeping on my stomach. I'm totally a stomach sleeper.

@RainDropPixie@xanga - me too, thank god for my new $8 body pillow from Walmart!

oh god I miss intimacy. I can't even kiss without feeling sick! can't wait for the first trimester to pass...

  • hollyswhirled

@Formula1_9@xanga - It will, trust me once you're out of it you'll be like, omg! Im 4 months already! Then you'll start to really show and things will get exciting.
Im already compiling my top 5 likes for  pregnancy but I want to put movement down so I'll probably make two lists lol.

I loved EVERYTHING about my pregnancy as I had gone years and years unable to conceive. It was a joy and a gift and I was so very grateful to be pregnant!

I missed being able to bend over at the waist, laying on my stomach, being able to fit in small spaces, and sleeping on my back. But i loved my pregnancy, i didn't have morning sickness and felt great up until my last few weeks. By then i was just tired of feeling huge and uncomfy.

I just wish I could get pregnant. You are very fortunate.

I'm only 7 1/2 weeks pregnant, but I miss only having to get up once during the night to pee. I miss not getting nauseous on a daily basis. I miss alcohol. I miss rough sex (it's normal for me to bleed afterward but now that I'm pregnant it scares the hell out of me to see any blood down there). I miss not crying for no good reason.

I like/love knowing that I am carrying a child, and that my child is also the child of the man I love with everything I am; the fact that he talks to our baby and tells me, "I love you both"; that Mom and I have something to talk about now. The fact that I'm doing everything I can for my baby just by taking care of myself (and taking those horrid vitamins) is kinda cool.

@mymindbodysoul@xanga - are you trying? I wasn't trying... I feel like this is a good thing in life but being completely unprepared and only in my relationship for a short time has made this a weird and trying time for us... I'm just glad that we love each other and are working together on this. =]

  • mymindbodysoul@xanga

@hollyswhirled - Yeah we accidentally got pregnant in August of 2006 but a few weeks later lost the pregnancy. We went a few years not trying not preventing and now since August of 2010 we have been officially trying. Its a long journey and some people just dont understand how hard it is. I have waited what seems like forever for us to start our family. We have been married for 4 years and although we are only 24, I am just tired of waiting! Just know you are very lucky for things to just happen and next time you complain on FB just realize there might be someone who can't have kids and is tired of hearing pregnant women complain lol. On that note I do want to congratulate you!

  • hollyswhirled

@mymindbodysoul@xanga - Yeah I can understand that... this is my third pregnancy. I lost the two previous ones miscarried both in my first trimester. I guess this time around it's just akward 'cause those two times I was trying and very excited, no morning sickness with my second one, I thought it was going to be perfect... but the doc said that morning sickness is a good sign this pregnancy has stuck.
So far I'm almost half way there...
And good luck to you! I hope you get what you're wanting. I'm a firm believer of "if it's meant to be it'll happen".

are you eating whole organic foods? most likely if food tastes like chemicals, it DOES have chemicals in it ... and now your senses are so sensitive!

  • Katie_Gillen@xanga

Right now I miss having an appetite! I also miss being able to go to work without getting up every 30 minutes or so to vomit.
