Embarassing Parents

Teens say they are embarrassed by their parents so here is how I embarass my teen daughter without even trying:
- I sing around the house.
- I am a pro on Guitar Hero AND Band Hero!
- I have knee length black boots which she aptly named (out of love I may add), my hooker boots!
- I have a pull on black hat that I wear in all bad weather.
- I play Star Wars, Call of Duty and loads more on the X box and can finish them all with ease!
- My choice of music: rock and indie music.
- I will be the first up at Karaoke.
- I am the only parent out of her friends parents who still can't drive! (Sorry Lindz, I'm working on it! :D)
- I would gladly wear Doc Martins again if I could get away with it!
- I would gladly wear ripped jeans again if I could get away with it.
- I always ask if she is dating anyone.
- I am the first on things at the carnival. (We are off to the carnival on Friday for her birthday, I'm going by myself, if she wont.)
- I am just like a big kid at heart. But do you know what, I may embarrass her but we always have a laugh and i'm just like one of her pals at the end of the day but I will always be Mum.

Do your kids tell you that you embarrass them? What do you do that they find so embarrassing?

i'm right there with ya on most those things and yes i do still wear ripped jeans! my kids are just getting to the age where they are "embarrassed" by mommy but for me i feel like i'm just getting into my own.
You know, the things most kids considered embarassing I actually LIKED about my parents. Like all that stuff you just mentioned, I would probably brag about it.
I remember one time, when I was learning to drive, I was driving the car while my friends were in the back seat. My dad was singing along to the radio and my friend said, "Hah you must be embarassed that your dad sings with us here." and I responded, "No I actually like it as long as it's not during my songs."
He said he really liked that I said that.
I don't think I was embarrassed by how my parents acted when I was a teen unless it was directly related to me. But then, they also didn't sing in public or pretend to like my music or try to dress like me. lol. The main time I can remember being embarrassed by my mother was when I got an in-school suspension for the second time for being late for school. The first time, I made the mistake of telling my mom that I didn't realize I could leave the room I was confined to in order to use the bathroom. The second time around, she asked the receptionist, in front of several other students, if I would be allowed to use the bathroom! I could have just died right there. I think I would have WAY rather had my mom act like a dork than treat me like a baby in front of my friends!
My mom sings around the house and I just laugh. She comes out to bars with me (I just turned 21 in December. :) ) and is first up at karaoke, she got me to sing my first song not long ago.. Dream on by Areosmith! I ask her to go out to the mall, out to eat, out to random Walmart adventures, and heck even just to drive around and listen to the radio. My moms like my best friend and it's been that way since I was young. :) My best friend LOVES my mom and my mom has pretty much adopted her! LOL. I never was in hat whole MOOOMMM that's embarrassing! kick.
i cant wait lol
I break out dancing to good music in the store.
I used to get embarassed by my mum and dad, particularly my young-at-heart dad, until he died of cancer when i was 15. now i look back at all of his eccentric behaviour fondly and wished i'd put more effort into having fun with him than just rolling my eyes.
I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of what you do, but I guess it might be because I'm not your kid. I think its much better to be how you are
than to be a boring stuffy old parent that doesn't have a clue about
what their kids like and forgot how to have fun about 20 years ago.
you sound like an awesome mom. lol
Haha yes you sound like an awesome Mum !
Really, who wants a stuck up, killjoy, no fun Mother?
C'mon, I'd rather be laughing at my Mother all day, or running away in shame because she is dancing in the middle of the street, or be playing video games with her, than he not paying any attention to me, or having her neglect me, or having a Mother that can't laugh at her self :))
Oh and BTW I have, what one would call and embarrassing Mother. LOL. Although, really there's never been a time that I've actually felt gut churning embarrassment. It's always been that 'giggling, walking away from you right now' embarrassment. My Mum is great, she's a great fun Mum. I'm 21 this year and I have a 19 month old daughter, I'm stilla big kid at heart who cannot wait to do fun, stupid things with her and go on ride, etc, etc. I hope I still am when she is a teenager !
you're not embarrassing, you're just a cool mama! :)
I wasn't embarrassed by my parents until they had their midlife crises and started acting like children again. It's one thing to be a kid at heart. It's another thing to be a grown up to your children for most of their lives and then start acting like little kids because you're fed up of having responsibilities and you just want to act like a teenager again.
I was only ever embarrassed by my parents when they purposefully did stupid things to embarrass me. *shrug* You actually sound a lot like my best friend's mom (minus the not driving yet thing) and she's so cool, all of my friends have been "adopted" by her willingly.
I am a kid but you sound like an awesome mom.
Lol. I used to feel the same way about my mom when I was a teen. But I love it now.
My parents used to embarrass me so much when I was growing up. Now I like hanging out with them more than my friends haha.
I live for embarrassing my kids, I can claim aobut 3/4 of your list!:)
