  • Who Needs a Gym, Anyway?

I've learned that all you really need, to get into shape, is space in your living room and a good collection of workout DVD's. And, so, I must say that I LOVE Collage Video. I purchased some with my birthday money. Money well spent. We also picked up the Kinnect thing for Xbox, specifically for the Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout and I was happy to also find Zumba.

I didn't really know what the Biggest Loser workout was going to be. I had this image in my head of one continuous workout and why spend $50 for that. Well, It's actually great. It's a different routine, every day, and you even get weekly challenges and the lovely weigh ins. I do that, now, 3 days a week. I like working out with Bob. 1. He's better to look at and 2. He doesn't yell in your face.

Zumba, well... lol. I try. And that's about all I can say. I didn't waste my time with the tutorials about the dance steps. It was annoying. I jumped right into the routine and was so lost, but I tried. I try and do this once a week.

    On to my DVD's

I LOVE Leslie Sansone. I got her Fat Burning Miles, DVD.

I also love this instructor. It's fun.  I do this once a week

I got the Biggest Loser power walk, before I got Leslie's DVD. I just love the indoor walking workouts.

I've also learned to really enjoy kickboxing. It's something I wanted to learn. I got the Kickboxing: Core Cross Train.

I also love this instructor. It's fun.  I do this once a week

And, of course, how can you forget Yoga. I got the 10 minute solutions yoga.

I did this for the first time, after another workout, today. I did the rest and relaxation. I love how you can choose which area to work on and it's only 10 minutes. I'm going to start doing this twice a week.

I love having a mixture of choices. Workouts, if you stick to the same old ones, can become boring. I like to mix it up. Definitely beats walking on the treadmill, for the millionth time.

Do you prefer the gym or the privacy of your own home for a workout? Which is more motivating for you? What are some of your favorite workout videos?

i dunno. i prefer the gym because i actually have to get up and go haha. i'm more likely to not work out if i have a dvd. having said that, right now, i love working out at home. i have a 2 year old and don't really have time to go to the gym. i want that kickboxing dvd!! i did kickboxing about 2 years ago and i lovedddd it. i'd give anything to get back into it. :)

I bought my kids a Wii around tax time, so I bought the Just Dance games to go on it.  They are so much fun and they give me an aerobic style workout.  I also use my husband's weight bench and my elliptical.  Dont forget crunches for your abs!

While I thoroughly admire your ability to motivate yourself, I personally have to pay for a gym membership to make myself go.  I have some weird thing about getting the best deal for my money, so if I pay, I will go as often as possible to get the cheapest rate per class.  A little psycho, I know, but that's what actually motivates me.
