Mom Kills Her Two 'Mouthy' Teens
Last night I was browsing through the news online and I saw an article that was pretty stunning. Although I know this undoubtedly happens often, it's just shocking to imagine this really happening.
On Friday, in Tampa, Florida, the wife of a military officer killed her two kids because they were being "mouthy." On the way to soccer practice, she shot her 13-year old son twice in the head. Then, she returned home and shot her 16-year old daughter while she was on the computer, shooting her in the head and face. The woman's mother claimed that the mother was depressed and complaining about her children.
I couldn't even imagine how this would go down. Did she just pull over on the side of the road to turn around and shoot her son? Or did she just do it as an afterthought at a stoplight? Did she threaten him or did it come out of nowhere?
There are so many questions after situations like this, and I know there are worse outcomes.
However, it's clear to me that she most likely was dealing with some sort of mental disorder or condition at this time and it's evident in the news story that she planned these murders and planned to take her own. Even though it's clearly never an excuse, it could be an explanation to her violent madness.
Did you hear about this and what's your reaction?

Don't fuck with mom!
...
Seriously though, how the fuck do you go off and shoot your kids...
I just don't understand what the world is coming to.
WOW, that's very crazy. It sucks to know that our world's becoming so ...... not safe
I live in Central Florida so it's been all over the news. It's disturbing but I actually wasn't too shocked. I know it sounds odd but I feel like we've become bombarded with these insane reports so often that it's a new lunatic ever other week. I still always have a million questions about these cases. Can't imagine how the father will feel when he hears this news.
People killing their kids is a sign of the times. How many times over the past 20 years have we read about parents killing their children, especially shocking (for some reason) when it's the mother who kills. So hard to understand, yet not because the answer isn't obvious. We can't see it because we can't acknowledge the cause without convicting ourselves along with the rest of society. People have become less and less willing to demand righteousness in society because they themselves enjoy the occasional guilty pleasure, and they don't want their freedom to do so impinged upon.
And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: (Mat 24:12, Rom 1:28-31)

@AOK4WAY@xanga - I don't think it's a sign of the times. I think it's a sign of how quickly and easily we can get news from around the world.
I'm thinking it was a planned thing. Who carries a gun in their car?? My husband has a lot of guns, but we have no reason to carry one when we are driving anywhere.
Freaking sociopathic mom.
wow, that's so insane!
I couldnt believe it. It's terrible!
I think people really need to do more research into the mental health of parents in general but especially mothers. Hormonal imbalances & other stressors are often seen as just a postpartum issue but it's been seen in mothers of older children too. I dont know why mental health is such a controversial subject. It's 1000% wrong that this woman killed her children but nobody wakes up one day & says "I'm going to kill my kids", something(s) always happen leading up to this. Someone saw or heard something or noticed some behavior was off.
I totally back the scientific community & alternative medicine to help people recognize & treat mental disorders but hopefully one day there's going to be a treatment or cure that's not just medication because sometimes medications do more harm than good.
That's sick. I don't understand how a a woman who gives birth to two children can just up and shot them?! It's sad to think that this isn't the first time. I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened several hundred times over from before there was the news to now where there's news information at very corner. It's sickening and it makes the rest of the mothers seem like they could snap as well at any time...it's sad :( I could never even think about hurting any kid, let along my own.
How could anyone do this? Sick.
wtf
Holy crap!!! Yes, teens get mouthy- that's not reason to kill them. I couldn't imagine ever doing this to my future little son, I'm paranoid that something will happen to him and he's not even born yet-- let alone being the actual person to kill him. Nah uh. There definitelly was SOMETHING MAJORLY wrong with this women and the signs were missed. Unfortunately it's hard to tell sometimes if a person is really capable of doing something or not and often it is too late before problems are discovered and resolved. Sad.
I live in tampa and heard this story..it literally made me cry. I truly don't know why she didn't just kill herself. Our local news is doing non stop coverage with the story. Her poor husband being overseas makes it worse. Here he is serving and fighting for our country and apparently and unknowingly to him, he should have been fighting for his kids. SO so sad.
Wow, and how sad. It's hard to imagine this ever truly happening. But it does and did. I mean, being mouthy and disrespectful is pretty much synonomous with being a teenager. I feel horrible for the two teens who have lost their lives to their own mother, and to the father I feel he's going to need more love and family support than ever before. I hope he can find some peace after all that's gone on and that he can recover as best he can. And to the mom, I hope she gets some help b/c it sounds like she really needs it. But I also don't think that should be any form of excuse against such horrible and permanent actions she's commited against her own children. I feel she needs a punishment to fit the crime and still get the mental counseling she obviously needs and that should have been treated a long time ago.
thats fucking scary
I used to live in Tampa, Florida. I agree with TheLuser that there were always crazy incidents, especially in Florida.
However, this is just disgusting. There is no excuse at all. I agree it seems that she thought this out. She obviously had to seeing as she had a gun on her, which why would she have a gun taking her son to soccer practice?
Death penalty should be by firing squad, however, it ceases to exist. If they stick to the military style, sadly, she will only get lethal injection.
I have to believe she's clinically insane. There's just no way any sane person can do something like that. At least that's what I tell myself so I can sleep at night.
@dmcx2010@xanga - ...what?!
People who are caring for children ought to be subjected to regular mental health testing.
You can tell just by looking at her face that she's crazy. O_O
Clinically insane, depressed, bipolar, whatever. Unfortunately, I don't think any of those claims are going to help this woman. The defense against her is going to claim premeditated murder and it will probably pass because of the fact that she had a gun in her car, shot her son, then went back home, and shot her daughter.
It's quite sad. Unfortunately, it happens a lot in the world. More often then anyone would like.
maybe they weren't respectful, so she had enough of it.
it'll drive me nuts, if my kids were horrible.
Yeah, I live there...it's insane. So horrendous. Rest in peace.
