Help With Nursery Ideas...

So I've been pretty torn thinking about nursery themes. When we renovated our house a year ago, we chose a very pretty Caribbean aquatic blue color for our 2nd room. We were planning to use it as a study, a guest room, an all purpose room until it becomes a nursery. It never became any of those and for almost a year it sat as pretty much a big storage closet.
Hun and I are pretty much on the same page about not wanting to change the paint color.
First of all, I hate pink. Even though I'm having a girl, I'm really hoping not to have to do and put her in everything pink! I was hoping to stay with the color on the wall and through accents try to make it more girl friendly. These are my inspirations:
I never realized how whimsical and feminine blue can be. I think it's a color that can grow with her. What do you think about a blue baby girl's room?

i don't see anything wrong with it, since it's going to be pretty obvious by the stuff in the room that it's a girls room...
people LOVE getting new parents stuffed animals and everything, so you could decorate the room with them, and make the fabrics lacey and feminine too =]
The inspiration photos are gorgeous! I think a blue walled room with touches of pink and yellow look amazing!
Absolutely LOVE the last one! I think blue is great! I also liked that some of the blue rooms incorporated just touches of pink, but in a much more modern way. Go for it! I think all the pics you posted are amazing! Maybe a melange of your favorite elements in each one. I do really like the crib in the last one tho, with the mirror over it. You have terrific taste, for the record.
I would've said no, but the pictures are proof that it can definitely work.
I am glad I never turned any of the rooms into a nursery, because my kids would not have spent any time in it. We are always in the living room.
blue is a perfect color for bedrooms because it is soothing. i love the first picture under your inspirations with the yellow chair and bedding! it makes it so... appealing. warm. i don't know but i sure do like it (i'm not much for pink either)
Here are three beautiful blue girly nurseries I like:

The blues are slightly different but i think you could make something work with your aquatic color - what do you think?
I think blue is gorgeous for a girl if you put the right finishing touches with it.
I think Blue is fine for a girls room however Pink is not good for a boys room hehe! love that the pics above with the blue walls and the pink backgrounds. i do love pink tho so i love the blue and pink accents. good luck her room will look great no matter what colors you use
LOVE IT!
that is absolutely gorgeous! :D
I guess you could make it work.. I have no idea why but I cringe at having a baby girl in a blue room though? The rooms you pictured are cute, just not my taste I guess. I would end up going with a gender neutral color (yellow, green) if it was me.
I've never thought of blue for a girl's room, but these images make it seem just as nice as pink or any other girly colour. I think if you accessories with the right colours and items, your Caribbean blue will make for a spectacular little girl's room. I would go with white furniture ;)
I wish you and your "hun" the best of luck with nursery and baby!
thats what i did. A blue girls room. i love blue, it's so pretty!!! i love the picture with the tree that is behind the crib. I was thinking about that. A cherry blossom tree, stars and what not. It look really pretty and "pink" can be put anywhere as just a touch, like a blanket or sheets or something.
I have a blue room but the blue has some purple undertones to it. The blue paint is a touch on the pastel side but still bright and bold. (I have a south facing room with windows that lets in a lot of light.)
I think that blue is perfectly fine for a little girl. I think that pink should be used as an accent color. Too much pink is going to be overkill, I think. But I love the pictures of the blue rooms with the pink accents. I think it's classier and more fun.
The last two are so beautiful! I also adore the second picture with all yellow accents. The blue wall is really beautiful, it definitely brings out a calm environment while the accents in the room bring pops of color :D
Why not? It's really pretty. . Personally I think people get a little stuck on the boy = blue and girl = pink standard. Plus even as a little girl I hated pink, and what if she did too?
the blue and yellow room (first inspiration picture) was beautiful!
I like the color alot! I am all for switching up traditional gender boundaries! :) I don't like pink either, btw. :)
I really like the pic with the tree in it and crib up against it. :) I think that's very elegant and pretty.Â
@lapis_lazuli917@xanga - totally agree! girl does not have to equal pink! I'd die if I had to paint her room like bubblegum throwup. yeah i think i'm gonna do the blue
