  • Introducing... "Tell Me Thursdays"!

Twitter has Follow Fridays, recipe sites have Menu Mondays... I think it's time that us mommies start Tell Me Thursdays!  It's easy enough to play, just copy and paste the questions, fill in your answers, and post as a comment.  This is a judgment-free zone, so be honest and have fun.  Let's hear it, mommas!

Since this is our first installation of Tell Me Thursdays, I'll start with a basic introduction:

    1. Your age: 27

    2. Your child/ren's age(s):
    Avery (2-1/2), Baby #2 arriving Summer 2011!

    3. Occupation:
    Work-from-home HR Consultant and Editor

    4. Favorite thing to do when your kids are napping or at school:
Knitting sweaters that my daughter will never be caught dead in.

    5. Least favorite kids' TV show and why:
Three-way tie between Imagination Movers (I hate when adult actors 'dumb it down' for kids); Yo Gabba Gabba (watching that show makes my brain leak out of my face); and Max and Ruby (who are we kidding here?  Ruby is a jerk).

    Yo Gabba What?

    6. Your mommy guilty pleasures:
Catching up on trashy celeb gossip, any books by Jen Lancaster, and MTV's Teen Mom.

    7. Funniest or most embarrassing thing your kid(s) said or did today:
I yawned and Avery asked, "You tarded, Mommy?"  I've tried to correct her pronunciation of 'tired' several times, but I'm hoping she just grows out of this one.

    8. What about parenthood still makes you cringe (be honest):
I still don't handle vomit well.  The word alone makes me queasy.  Now, poop?  I can do poop.  I am the Special Forces of poop.

    9. Proudest mommy moment:
Watching Avery request hugs from her relatives and saying "I love you" without being prompted.  Although, yesterday I caught her saying "I love you, Spun-Bob."  It's a work in progress.

    10. What you miss most about the single life:
The ability to meet up with friends at the drop of a hat and sleeping in the next day.  But I'm not too proud to admit that my current best friend is 2 years old!

That's it for today, ladies!  Tune in next week as the questions get a little more interesting   For now, it's your turn... post away!

    4. Favorite thing to do when your kids are napping or at school:
Reading.  I love to read, but I so rarely get the time.

    5. Least favorite kids' TV show and why:
    The wiggles creep me out.

    6. Your mommy guilty pleasures:
Playing video games.  I get to play when Cadence is in bed, and by no means are the games I play for her, so I have to hide them.

    7. Funniest or most embarrassing thing your kid(s) said or did today:
When Cadence had a nasty poop and someone commented on the horrible smell.

    8. What about parenthood still makes you cringe (be honest):
    One word POOP.

    9. Proudest mommy moment:
Cadence said Da Da, and Erick's mom tried to say that she didn't.  Well of course not much later Cadence said it in front of her.  :)

    10. What you miss most about the single life:
    Sleeping in.

Dora the Explorer, drives me insane, I've been trying to wean my daughter off of her.

    6. Your mommy guilty pleasures:
    Watching Bad Girl's Club.

    7. Funniest or most embarrassing thing your kid(s) said or did today:

Aurora negotiates taking toys to day care by promising to share them. When we got to day care, I saw her hiding the toy she'd brought behind her back so that another girl wouldn't notice it.

    8. What about parenthood still makes you cringe (be honest):
Drool, I can deal with basically any substance except saliva. It's illogical but it's always been a peeve of mine.

    9. Proudest mommy moment:
Aurora puts her dishes in the sink after using them, says "thank you" for everything, and I caught her dancing to Queen last week.

    10. What you miss most about the single life:
Dating, Meeting up with friends on demand.

  • chelleannette@xanga

    1. Your age: 39

    2. Your child/ren's age(s):
    16 (almost 17) - girl, 15 - boy, 13 - girl

    3. Occupation:
Stay at home mom, looking for a full-time job

    4. Favorite thing to do when your kids are napping or at
    school
    :
Shopping, getting things done, checking things off a list, lunch with friends.

    5. Least favorite kids' TV show and why:
So it's been a long time since my kids have really watch kids' TV, but back in the day it was most definitely Barney!  OOoooh!  I hate that ridiculous purple monster.  He's sooooo stupid and annoying!  Nowadays, Spongebob takes the cake with that annoying voice and laugh.  Just stupid.

    6. Your mommy guilty pleasures:
    Chocolate

    7. Funniest or most embarrassing thing your kid(s) said or
    did today
    :
Hmmm...they were out the door before I rolled out of bed with my sore back, but how 'bout this one from a dinner conversation last year?  "Mom, what's a vibrator?"  and from the older sister "Boys don't need vibrators, they have their hands."

    8. What about parenthood still makes you cringe (be honest):
The general lack of cleanliness of their rooms.  My son's rude responses to people at times.

    9. Proudest mommy moment:
Hmmmm...I'm not a fan of the word proud cause I (personally) feel like it puts pressure on the kids to perform so the parents have something to brag about.  But happy for my kids - when my oldest daughter announced to us that she had made a 20 year plan for her life.  Although, I was equally amused and concerned that she might have overplanned her life.

    10. What you miss most about the single life:
The lack of responsibility for another persons (three other) care and well-being - both physical and emotional.  It's a huge pressure every day.

  • kazztazz@xanga

    1. Your age: 23

    Dylan, 10 months

    3. Occupation:

The Backyardigans- I can't stand the singing.  Franny's Feet- I don't get the appeal.

    6. Your mommy guilty pleasures:
    Watching MTV, bubble baths.

    7. Funniest or most embarrassing thing your kid(s) said or did today:
We went to Wendy's after grocery shopping this morning.  A lot of people came up to say hi to Dylan.  He held out his finger for one gentleman.  The guy shook his finger, and Dylan loudly farted and laughed.  The guy said, "Well I guess that's why he wanted me to pull his finger."

    8. What about parenthood still makes you cringe (be honest):
The shrill shrieking/crying meltdowns.  And vomit that you can tell what is by the chunks.  Blah.

    9. Proudest mommy moment:
Dylan rubbing my knee when I cracked it on the door.  He said, "ow ow" and hugged my leg.

    10. What you miss most about the single life:  I'm a single mom.  Sometimes it's sad that there's no one else to marvel in the ups and downs of rising the dude.  I miss being able to hang with friends that don't have kids.

Jack was at my husband's office desk pretending to make phone calls and work on the computer.

9 Proudest Mommy Moment: Having my little angel. It didn't go as planned, since I had to be induced, and the pain was so much after they broke my water that I had to get an epidural, but pushing with only two or three short pauses for that straight hour, and then seeing that little angel with her full head of hair... Most amazing moment of my life.
