  • My Birthday Wish -Please Help to End Child Sex Trafficking

On October 12, I turn 24. I can think no better way to celebrate my birthday than raising money for an issue that's quite important to me: child sex trafficking.

It's estimated that 1.2 million children, each year, around the world, are bought and sold for sexual purposes. These are children as young as toddlers who are raised in brothels and trained to perform sexual acts in horrid living conditions.

They are often kidnapped or orphaned, and most of them will be forcibly raped at a young age.

One study found that 60-70 percent of child prostitutes will contract AIDS during their captivity.

Look, I'm not asking for a lot here... if you could spare $10 to give to this cause, it would warm my heart. You can donate here on my personal birthday cause profile.

Or if you want to make an independent donation to one of the other fine organizations combating child trafficking, that's great, too. Send me a note wishing me a happy birthday to let me know you stepped up to the plate to help an endangered child.

My goal is to raise $1000 by midnight on October 12th. If I can get 100 people to donate $10, I'll reach my goal; something I think is achievable.

    I appreciate the help.

    Love,

    Charles

P.S. The organization I'm supporting is ECPAT.

Editor's Note: We normally do not feature posts that solicit money from our audience but felt this was a wonderful cause and a great idea from reader cmclymer. For more information on what ECPAT does please go here.

That's why I love The Body Shop a store inside the mall I go to. I went yesterday to buy some lotion and bought some with a cause to stop CST. Then I bought a special bag that donated the money I used to the event. That store does all kinds of things I freakin love it.

You should really check out the organization 'Love Can't Be Baht'. It's the same thing, to help stop human sex trafficking. (http://www.dosomething.org/project/love-cant-be-baht)

    Also, it is on facebook.
I first found out about Love Can't Be Baht at a local show last year. I bought a tshirt, my best friend bought a jacket, and anytime they set up a table at a venue we attend, we try to donate. It really is a great cause.
