More than 10 million toys have been recalled by Fisher Price and the
US Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Among the toys being recalled:

-Fourteen models of the Fisher-Price
Trike and Tough Trike toddler tricycles. US CPSC said they "can cause serious injury, including genital bleeding when a child sits, strikes or falls on a pretend plastic ignition key."

-
Seven models of infant activity centers with inflatable balls in which the valve from the balls comes off. US CPSC said "We know of 14 valves found in children’s mouths. There were three reports of a child beginning to choke on the valve. In total, we have 46 reports of the valves coming off."

- Two cars in the
Fisher-Price Little People Wheelies Stand ‘n Play Rampway. US CPSC said "The wheels can come off of two cars posing a choking hazard to young children."

- Nearly
950,000 Fisher-Price high chairs. US CPSC said "Children can fall on or against pegs on the back legs of the high chairs. We know of seven children who fell on or against these legs and needed stitches and one who had a tooth injury."
Fisher Price will replace the dangerous pieces on some of these items or replace the entire product. You can learn more
here.
Do you have any of these products? Have you experienced a safety problem with any of your child's toys?

Makes me wonder if they have children test-drive this stuff.
Some of the recalls are just silly honestly... a bolt sticking out of a chair.. kids fall and get hurt on it.. unfortunate yes.. but there's lots of things kids can fall and get hurt on. I don't know.. just seems a bit much.
@Nina1981@xanga - I agree with you on that. I can understand if wheels are coming off toys designed for kids who are young enough to try to eat them, but something like that is a little ridiculous. Kids aren't meant to be kept in bubbles - they get skinned knees and bruises. It happens.
@Nina1981@xanga - silly? hrm ok I will tell that to the 3 year old I know who had 8 stitches in her face because of this chair. (sorry to sound snarky).
I agree with the recall. If you have not actually seen these items and know kids who have gotten hurt because of the reasons they are being recalled then I guess you might think they've gone over board. But I have seen the damage first hand.
Okay, I giggled... "Children can fall on or against pegs on the back legs of the high chairs. We know of seven children who fell on or against these legs and needed stitches and one who had a tooth injury." You mean if my kid falls, she, like, might get hurt?? ZOMG!! I think I should be contact the makers of our tile floor and couch! I mean, sure, the sofa seems soft and innocent...until she hauls off and head butts it in an over-tired fit! You shoulda seen the nose bleed from that one! HUGE safety hazard there!
I, too, get the small parts that come off...but really? When you're making toys for a certain age set? Why are parts under a certain size (who remembers the paper towel tube choking hazard test??) on the toy period?
We almost bought that trike for my niece! How awful!
@LadyGwenivere@xanga - My kids have gotten hurt on things, I've NEVER thought to go after a toy company. Sue happy America.
@Nina1981@xanga - well there are two things wrong with that statement. 1st, I am Canadian, as is the family that had the daughter get stitches. and 2 they did not sue. They contacted the company on advice of the EMT who did the stitches and they replaced the highchair.
I have seen the peg in the recall, and it could do a lot of damage, the thing is frggin sharp.
@Nina1981@xanga - I'm with you. Accidents happen.
I think a lot of those sound like poor design, esp. that trike yikes!
Some of the toy recalls that happen are just kind of absurd. What happened to accidents and actually watching what your children are getting into. I understand that a kid can sneak something into their mouth pretty fast but come on. It just seems like someday kids will be playing with plush balls and thats it. Because lets be honest, kids can hurt themselves on pretty much everything. So should we recall everything?
I remember the days of Polly POCKETS, (not halve sized Barbie dolls), Sky Dancers, and Creepy Crawlers. But thats all gone now, thanks to parents not playing it safe.
We had two of the items oin the recall list, the trike (in picture) and the high chair. I wish they made quality stuff still, but alas- it is all this cheapo stuff with poor design!
