At our baby shower my hostesses and I decided to do something called an Advice Tree and I really want to share some of the results from it.
During the shower we had a bare tree set up at the entrance and handed out small squares of decorative paper with a ribbon through them to hang them from. During a little bit of down time the guests were each asked to write their own piece of advice on their paper so that their words of wisdom could be hung on the tree (and later put in our baby scrapbook). We got some helpful- and entertaining- answers.
Here are some of my favorites:
"Turn a deaf ear to people who try to correct your own instincts. Babies don't break easy! It's okay if you make a mistake."
"Take time for yourself- so you can devote quality time to your baby."
"Time goes by fast, enjoy your little one. The housework can wait."
"Lots of love and ear plugs."
"Remember they will grow up- and this too will pass."
"Trust your instincts- Don't panic- Pray- Keep your cool- Life is sweet."
Did you incorporate an advice or wish element into your baby shower? What good advice did you receive?
