  • Third Trimester Morning Sickness?!

    Lord help me. Is it October yet??

    The last week or so I haven't been feeling well. I've noticed a definite increase in fatigue, the occasional headache, and the fateful return of morning to mid-day nausea. (All this combined with increased difficulty sleeping- thank you, pregnancy.)

    Typically I feel fine when I wake up. I'm always hungry first thing in the morning so I have breakfast as usual (yogurt and a granola bar, whole grain cereal, or fruit). I do fine until a little while after when I start to notice that I'm not feeling well. This is when the nausea hits and fatigue strikes not long after.  A couple hours later I find I'm hungry again but still feeling unwell. Eventually the upset stomach wears off but I just can't seem to shake how tired I become.

    My first trimester was like this (though nausea lasted much longer through the day) and I'm hoping this isn't what I can expect for my last two months.

    Well, my daily 2.3 liters of water will have to wait this morning. Sprite Zero it is.

    Is there any particular food or drink that helped any of you through morning sickness? Did you experience third trimester morning sickness?

    I'm not pregnant, nor have I ever been. However, a vast number of my friends have been or currently are. Some of their cures for morning sickness:

    Oranges
    Ginger (or ginger ale, if you don't like ginger)
    Black Licorice (if you actually like the stuff).

    I had 3rd trimester morning sickness with my 3rd babe.  It's because the baby is squashing up on your stomach.  Peppermint candy helped a little bit.  I also had nasty bad heart burn... & a 10 lb 6 oz baby...  haha

    Be careful with the licorice if you have blood pressure problems, it can raise it. You should try getting a B12 shot for energy and to help with nausea. They give them at naturopathic clinics. Also Traditional Medicinals makes a pregnency tea that always makes my tummy feel better.

    I had morning sickness through the entire pregnancy. At first, the only thing I could eat was ramen noodles...I'd eat half the pack raw and then cook the rest and add spices instead of the flavor packet. I also found that lemons helped a ton. Later, it wasn't as bad but I got super-picky about what I'd eat. Nothing sounded good most of the time, and nothing really helped with the nausea.

    The best thing that helped my morning sickness was to eat what I was craving. And stay away from anything that made me feel nauseous. I couldn't even look at potatoes without gagging until my third trimester, and then suddenly I loved them!

    Lemons, warm raspberry tea, zofran, heartburn meds do actually help with nausea, frequent meals and snacks, and don't be afraid to call the doctor for zofran. Its a wonderful nausea med and the only way I survived all throughout my pregnancy morning sickness.

    You just described my mornings. I start feeling well about 4:30 in the afternoon. My bf looks hurt when I take off to do errands right when he gets home because I felt like crap all day while he was working. Poor honey bunch :(

    If it's all of the sudden, and you had a pretty ok 2nd semester, have your doctor double check your blood pressure.  I had an amazing 2nd trimester after the first trimester from hell, and when the nausea came back, I ignored it.  I kept ignoring it when it turned into vomiting, thinking that I was eating too much.

    It was my blood pressure, and I delivered early because I had preeclampsia.  I'm not really trying to freak you out, just get things double checked, and make sure it IS nausea and not just your blood pressure.  *hug*

    Have you ever heard of Preggie Pops?  I ate the hell out of them when I was still pregnant.  You've got some basic flavors like peppermint and spearmint, and some stranger flavors like lavender and ginger.  They're not  going to make you feel 100% fantastic, but they do help quell the nausea a little.  At the very least, they'll rid your mouth of unpleasant flavors.

    I was lucky not to have morning sickness, but i ended up sleeping a ton and i took cap naps. also, popsicles were pretty ok if i did feel nausea.

    haha you haven't done much reading if you think that morning sickness can't happen during your whole pregnancy.
    acid reflux is a kicker, too.
    I liked toast, it was an easy cure for me. I was lucky and it only lasted a few months, though.

    I didnt get bad morning third trimester sickness with my first son but with my second I was sick throughout my whole pregnancy, worse in the first in third trimester then in my second.  I didnt find anything besides ematrol(an OTC antinausea med. specifically for pregnant women.). I took it nearly every day, that along with antiacids...Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!
