  • Things I've Learned from My Son

1.)  Laughter really is the best medicine.

And your kid's laughter can cure anything. Just knowing that Raiden is happy makes everything else better.

2.) You put up with a lot from your own kid that would annoy the heck out of you if it was someone else's kid.

I think it's absolutely adorable when he yells "Mommy, Mommy, Mom, Mommy" and when I finally say "what?", he just says "Hi mommy!"  I don't think it's cute when other kids yell "Mommy" over and over again.

3.) No kid is as cute as your own.

I've seen some pretty adorable kids, but I always think my son is cuter.  Maybe it's not the same for parents of the unfortunate-looking children.   I could stare at Raiden's face all day.  Hell, I even got his face inked on my arm.

4.) Take the time to listen to people.

It's amazing to hear what kids come up with.  They have the best imaginations.  They can be pirates, monsters, or puppies all in the same day.  I hear some cool stories when I just listen and ask questions.

5.) Take lots of pictures, because they grow up fast.

I know everyone says that, but that's because it's true.  I think videos are more important though.  They grow and change so much in the first 3 years, it's hard to remember it all.

    6. Enjoy the little things.

I know I take a lot of things for granted.  If my husband gets me a reese cup on his way home from work, I don't think it's a big deal.  I should, because it shows that he thought about me and knows what I like.  If I bring Raiden a cookie, he acts like it's  the greatest thing in the world, and it makes me feel good.  I need to try to be more like him.

    ...and here's a picture

He couldn't quite figure out how to put the glasses on.  And I swear I feed him, he just got his dad's metabolism. winky

What are lessons your kids have taught you?
