Raven's First Bite! (A Carrot Teether!)

Okay, so the title is a tiny bit misleading... she didn't take an actual bite of something, but she did get her very first solid food!A carrot teether!
She's only 5.5 months old and doesn't really need solids yet, specially seeing as she's already a GIANT! But like any other baby at this age, she is eyeballing everything we eat alarmingly! So, since she is actually teething, a carrot teether it is! (And maybe some apple chunks in a net feeder.)Once she decided she liked it, and was going to munch on it for a while, I got her out of the bouncy (which she really doesn't like anymore) and sat her up. She was horrified thinking I was going to take the carrot away... haha.
She spent a good hour chomping away!
My littlest girl is growing WAY too fast!
Moms what did you give your little ones when they were teething?

Your daughter is soooo cute! Those cheeks and her smile kills me! :) What a cool idea to use a carrot as a teether!
All my friends' babies are crazy right now about this plastic giraffe toy called "Sophie" the teether toy. Have other moms heard of this toy? It seems to be the latest rage in NY. ;)
aww that's soo cute :)
my lil cousin likes carrots too.
frozen strawberries in a mesh feeder and/or homeopathic teething drops or tablets.
your daughter is adorable. I had forgotten how much teething babies drool, LOL.
every book.... or magazine ... i have ever read says ur suppose to start them on solids at 4 months.... but if she doesnt want them... hey.
ha ha that is too cute
oh my god she's sooo adorable :)
@eugenia@xanga - Thank you, I've never heard of that teether here in NJ, but I'm going to check it out!

@Mrs_Jay - I've never started any of my kids on solids before 6 months, and I don't do rice cereal or baby food. Many different sources will tell you different ages/ways to start children on solids but I've always found exclusively breastfeeding for at least a year and letting them eat what they were actually able to eat when they were naturally able to eat it works best for us.
Nothing..I never knew when my daughter was teething. She never cried or anything. Just drooled.

@hatcherbee@xanga - that's cool. I nurse my little one as well... it's our first... so i'm still learning. I have however already started our little man (3months) on the first stage baby food (so i dont go by the books either) because he gets fussy a lot and it seems to really help him. He was super colicky at the beginning and a little extra something has helped his belly and he can go potty normal now. But I guess every child is different! :)
Raven is ADORABLE!! So cute! I love that she has a ginormous grin her little chubby face!
so cute~
Yeah- I tried giving a carrot to my son, he bit chunks off and was trying to eat / choke on them. lol- away the carrot went.
