Loving The Weather -I Have Spring Fever!
I have spring fever.
I blame Old Navy and their wonderful $2.50 flip flops. How else can I buy two pairs of shoes for myself in one day and feel absolutely zero guilt? The Dude and I went shopping yesterday, beginning our spring/summer wardrobe and whatnot. I love having a little kid, because I get to buy new clothes for him every season change. I'm a pretty big fan of shopping, so this is just one of the many perks of having a small child in the house.
I'm ready to open the windows for longer than a few hours at a time. I'm ready for warm breezes and aired out insides, to rearrange and clean every square inch until it shines. I'm ready to grow a vegetable garden, and to plant flowers in front of my home. I'm ready to play outside and BBQ, to invite friends over to have a bonfire. I'm just ready to not be cooped up inside any longer. I don't usually mind winter, but I'm guessing having a small person with a lot of energy around the house is making me a bit stir crazy. There's only so many times you can build a Lego robot for him to knock down, you know? Only so many things you can craft out of Playdoh. I'm running out of ideas, and well, I should be. It's time for spring to come.
I'm ready to sit outside with CKG at night, after the Dude goes to bed, and talk about our days. We always unwind together, at the end of an evening, after the chaos of dinner, tooth brushing, movie watching, kiss giving, tuck in-ing. In VA we would sit on our back deck and listen to music, chit chat, and solve the world's problems. Now that it's cold we tend to solve the world's problems in the computer room over hot tea. It's pretty cool, but I think we both have better ideas when we're outside. The fresh air does our brains some good. ;)
My goal by the end of summer is to be able to BBQ food on my own. Silly as it sounds, I've never grilled anything before. My dad always did the grilling at home, and CKG's been doing it for us for years. Now he works crazy long hours, and I can't wait for him to get home to start the grill. I'm going to learn how to do it and be a grillin' fool by the time fall rolls around.
I'm also going to get a membership to a local pool. We had a pool at our apartment complex in VA and it was a big hit with the Dude. He's a water baby for sure. I figure we can go to the pool at least two days a week, and our local library has a toddler activity morning once a week that I think we might hit up. I have a few friends with kids close to his age, that I can call up for weekend playtimes whenever I want. I think our summer will be fun and full of new stuff. I'm excited.
What are you looking forward to as the weather warms up? What are your plans with your family for spring and summer?

I think it's so great you want to learn how to BBQ! I really do too!
I'm loving the warm weather in NYC today. Picnicking outside and taking walks around the city with family would be great.
Even though we had a short winter I have been looking forward to nice warm weather. Can't wait to go on the beach in a couple months. Can't wait to get back into my walking routine. And, can't wait for green grass and trees full of leavesand flowers. And, all the good things about spring and summer.
