Mommy + Daddy = Little Mommy/Little Daddy
I am well aware that offspring are made of (almost always) perfect equal amount of chromosomes from the mother and the father. If you're a dog, you get 39 chromosomes from the female dog and 39 chromosomes from the male dog. If you're a cat, you get 19 chromosomes from each parents. And as for us humans, we inherit 23 chromosomes from mom and dad for a total of 46.
So, why the genetic lesson you ask?
I guess I've never really thought about children being literally half of mommy and half of daddy. Yes, we all discuss who our little ones look most alike. Like our little boy has hubby's hair color and lower lip while he got his nose and upper lip from me. But I'm not just talking about the physical aspects. It was not until I started noticing my habits or my husband's through this little almost three months old baby.
Baby N stretches like his daddy. Baby N cries if he wakes up and mommy or daddy's face was not the first thing he sees---just like me when I was kid with my grandma. Baby N is flirtatious (yes, at 3 months old!) just like his daddy. Baby N sleeps better if hubby is around just like mommy.
But what really amazes me is that (and sorry for being cheesy) because of love, a new life was created. Yes, I've always known that I love my husband and vice versa but that love has never been so tangible. Until now. Everyday, I look at my son and I see me and my husband. Everyday, I look forward to what another silly thing Baby N will do that will remind me of me and my husband. And everyday, my heart just grows a little bigger and I grow more in love with my son and my husband.
What traits or mannerisms do you see in your little one that reminds you of you or your partner? Which of your parents' traits do you have?

Aww. That last paragraph was endearing to read. :) I'm not married yet and I've yet to have a spawn. All that will change in about five years. Hopefully. I'm 21 now.
That picture is all kinds of adorable.
My son has my eyes and my husbands smile, but the odd thing is his teeth look more like mine than my husbands. My son is stubborn as hell, but so are both of his parents. If my son is really into something, he can focus on it like crazy. He gets that from his dad (I suppose). I have a hard time making myself focus on stuff. With that said, I like that John is his own person. I hate it when people tell him he is just me me or his dad when that is absolutely not true. He is an individual with his own thoughts and his own way of looking at the world. Physically, he may resemble us, but that is where the similarities end.
What a sweet, sweet post. You're absolutely right. And it only becomes more and more prominent as baby grows. My son is almost 2 and there are moments when he is exactly like his father. Not just in looks, but in expression and in mannerism. And there are moments when he is me. It's pretty cool, getting to see the best parts of both of you make one super cool human, isn't it? :)
Aww. That made me smile.
I'm not married nor do I have children yet, but that made me want to have children. But I'm more than willing to wait.
What a sweet read. I am only 19 at the moment so I haven't got any kids, but nonetheless my man and I enjoy going "aww" at little kids that we see!
From both of my parents, I've inherited the physical trait of being naturally skinny. Both of my parents' genes for hair must be dominant somehow, because I have a mixture of straight (both), curly (dad) and wavy (mum) hair. I look a lot like a female version of my grandfather more than anything else (high forehead, strong cheekbones, straight sharp nose, etc), so I think some of my mother's genes may have skipped a generation or something!
But character-wise, I have my father's workaholic attitudes and his professional business mannerisms, his love for football and his being thrifty. And from my mother, I have her temper, attention to detail, sense of humour and religiousness. My personality is still largely most similar to my father's, so I guess I may have to watch out I don't turn into a work-addict when I hold down a career.
When my daughter was born a family member asked me how I felt...my response was that it was like falling in love all over again.
