We've all been there before- crayon on the walls or floors, spills on rugs, the battles go on and on. Has your child ever ran around the living room with a permanent marker?

Well, one brave mom shares how she managed to get all that marker off her couches! It took six different products (and a lot of blood, sweat and tears) to get from what you see above to this:

What products do you use to get rid of stains? Please feel free to share your stain/marker battles and tips with everyone!

Thank God I don't have kids. I would have strangled the little fucker. Maybe teach the kid not to be a douchebag and you wont have to worry about getting marker out of a couch cushion... i never would have DREAMED of doing something like that as a kid.
@frozencherries@xanga - That's about what I said, until I had one with ADHD Type C, with violent tendencies and co-morbid learning disabilities. That furniture resembled some of ours. It was not done by a child who thinks. My child was all of two years old when she decorated the house with Marks-a-Lot. Reasoning, understanding, nor punishment entered into the equation at all. NOTHING stopped her impulsiveness until we treated the ADHD.
Call me crazy, but isn't this post basically an ad for someone else's non-Xanga site?
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - Crazy!
Seriously though, I was thinking the same thing...
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - Yeah...I was thinking the same thing.
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - agreed. why wouldnt they put some of it on here?
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - @filtered_sunlight - @der_lila_Stern@xanga - Hi ladies! I think the momaroo team thought the information the mom blogger provided helpful, but they can't just go and copy and paste her whole post on Momaroo. ;)
A lot of blogs highlight insightful or interesting ongoings from other blogs around the web. We'd love to keep things solely on Xanga-powered blogs and would greatly welcome your posts or other posts from folks you know here: http://www.momaroo.com/submit-post?user=momaroo.
You guys all know how I feel about this whole thing....my oink oink was let go for this stuff?? No wonder xanga is dying.
@eugenia@xanga -I understand that you cant just copy and paste the blog without permission. But why not highlight some of it if you are going to link to it? If the author wont agree to that, then it doesnt seem like it is even worth linking!
@der_lila_Stern@xanga - That's definitely a good suggestion and one I can ask the team to keep in mind. Thanks for the feedback!
@gwacemom - Wow, they ditched you for this stuff? *sigh*
@gwacemom - Hey MamaPig! :) You know your posts are always welcomed on the site. Please feel free to submit any posts you'd like to share on Momaroo. You know your content is always appreciated!
@eugenia@xanga - LOL, yes I know, but admittedly; I liked the anonymity of Mama Pig. I am still bitter, I won't lie.
@gwacemom - Yeah, I felt bad that the previous editorial method didn't work out. I think I remember the old editor telling me that at one point "Only Mama Pig updates anymore"
You're definitely a huge asset to the entire community. I totally wish there were 12 more Mama bloggers like you!
@eugenia@xanga - LOL, flattery will get you everywhere.
@eugenia@xanga - I agree with @der_lila_Stern@xanga - permission should have been asked and the original author has always (to my knowledge) be linked when their post was put here...even when they didn't appear to be a Xanga account holder. Everyone else's posts are copied and posted up here...though some times edited to be more to the point (and god knows that one could have been edited down A LOT).
Also disappointing? The pictures are posted and look amazing, but even the author mentions that the pictures are misleading and the furniture is not that impressive in person...it's my understanding that a few of couch cushions have simply been flipped over after washing failed as well.
@gwacemom - At least you're still our favorite crow! *runs away*
I use the pleasant product called "Death". Meaning, I kill them and the stains go away. Then me and my wife make more babies in their stead.
@Schristian@xanga - Hahaha Damn you're so cute. Speaking of which, I believe we need to create more babies...
@Stellarshore@xanga - Why, did they marker up the tv again! -shakes fist-
@Schristian@xanga - Yes, and your Lazy Boy too. =glares=
Everything they do is a learning experience. Where were the parents when this happened that they let it get to this extent? They did a great job of getting it cleaned up. It's great to know.
kids move so fast as this post proves!
@Alatariel40@xanga - Interesting. My son has ADD and LD and he never did this sort of thing BUT his 26 month old sister is flat out obsessed with writing (even holding the pencil correctly) and will write on ANYTHING. (I have had to put all of the markers way, way up which is a nightmare with 3 older homeschooling children.) I know ADD is strongly genetic so I wonder if I need to watch her extra closely...... It will be interesting to see how she goes since she is an identical twin and her sister shares none of her obsession with writing.
When my older daughters came home from a friend's house with acrylic paint on their clothes (GRRR!) we discovered that Pine-Sol will take out "permanent" inks. It stinks like crazy and doesn't come out the first time around but in the end it saved both of their shirts.
