Tonight is the Blue Moon. It is fairly rare for this occurrence to happen on New Years Eve. There is actually two definitions of the blue moon, go here to read about it, the modern definition is that there are two full moons in one month, the older definition is that it is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons. If you click above it will give you a more in depth look at why this is significant.

I love the full moon,it has always invigorated me. Several of my children were born on the full moon (or real close) and I always can feel the anticipation for several days in advance.  I particularly like the way it shines through the tree outside our bedroom window; in the summer through the leaves and in the winter through the twigs of branches. And I also love the way it casts shadows and glows on my sleeping children. It seems to open my eyes to a new perspective. Seeing life with a twinkle of the sun's light reflecting off the moon, it is just amazing!

I wish I had a picture to share but I have not been able to capture this beauty. So instead I will share with you another ‘once in a blue moon’ occurrence.

As we ring out 2009 and ring in 2010 I hope that you all are safe and well. I believe that the blue moon on the eve of a new year is a sign of a wonderful year to come. I believe that 2010 is going to be full of much happiness and good plain kindness. I have not set specific resolutions but have many thoughts for the new year.

Happy New Year and here is to a magical 2010!

Do you have a New Years Resolution? What are your hopes for the new year?

I do hope that all your hopes and dreams come true!
