LOL! I'd eat the inside through the bottom and leave a perfectly fine-looking shell in its wake..
Yes. I highly dislike marshmallows.
I prob wouldn't be able to wait and I don't even like them that much. This was hilarious!
I despise marshmallows, so yeah, I'm good.
I think people who despise marshmallows are missing the point here...
Haha! I felt so bad for that little blonde boy (the one who shoved the two marshmallows in his mouth at the end). He seemed so stressed out!
The kids who kept smelling it were funny. I have never picked one up, gotten a huge whiff and thought, "Ohhh they smell so good!" I don't think they even smell like anything.
@DirtyAndShaken@xanga - @waking_up_older@xanga - @PoetMcChick@xanga - the point isn't really about it being a marshmallow. the point is, if someone set something you WANTED in front of you, could you wait for another one or would you not be able to resist having it then and there?
@crystaldurden@xanga - No, I got it. It's just hard to get away from the marshmallow image because I REALLLLLY hate marshmallows.
The video cracks me up, though. That little blonde boy got me. Those kids are too darn cute.
@crystaldurden@xanga - I guess mine would be french fries, and of course I could wait for TWO!
aw they were so cute, the one boy was kissing it lol! I knew the little blonde girl wouldnt wait ahahaha. But yeaaaaaaa..I guess it depeneds how long your making me wait
Yeah, I'd spend my time building a fire so I could roast those suckers when I could finally eat them
aw too cute.
For me it'd have to be a freshly baked cookie....mmmmmmm
I could wait. Depending on what it was, I probably would wait.
How long did they have to wait? lol That's the question. Seems kinda mean, but not in a mean way. I am surprised even one kid was able to wait. I didn't think the little blonde girl was really even old enough to understand. She was so little. She's like the size of my 2-year-old.
eh I dont like marshmallows.. but if it was something I liked I bet I could. however, that did seem irritatingly long. yuck
this test is taken from a larger psychology research study. here's another video, that explains the purpose of the marshamallow test, and follows the participants in a longitudinal study where they studied the outcomes of kids who ate the marshmallow and kids who did not, and what it implies about delayed gratification.
The original marshmallow test was done in the 1960s. Kids were given the same deal and then left alone for 20 minutes. It's a test of a child's ability to delay gratification if it means getting something better. You'll note that the younger the child in this video, the worse they did which is typical. Sceptics did wonder if the results would have been different if a more popular sweet had been offered to the kids.
Years later, they found that the children able to wait the whole 20 minutes scored on average, about 210 points higher on SAT tests and were "more socially competent, self-assertive and academically successful". Now the person who did the original tests is going back to these kids as adults and doing other tests on them like brain scans to see if there is more going on.
It's fascinating stuff. I think I'll try it on my kids today.
I LOVE THIS
I'd fail but marshmallows make me nauseous after just one. So one will do.
It's marshmAllow, not marshmEllo.
(facepalm)
Those kids were too cute. Especially the blonde boy. He looked soooo anxious!
I could probably wait to eat mine...but I would've probably rolled and pulled the first one into a marshmallow taffy while I waited.
haha!! that's so precious! aww i'd suck at that i'd probably be the kid eating it while she's telling me the instructions :/
Yeah, I don't like eating marshmallows like that. I like them melted or in hot cocoa or on yams.
aww that was cute. i think i'd have to have something else to tempt me though.. like almond toffee bars
