    What's Your Morning Routine?

Happy Monday everyone! We hope you had a great weekend and are off to a great week.

Here's what one Momaroo reader's average morning looks like:

6 a.m. Wake up with husband, grab robe, stumble to kitchen and make two cups of coffee

6:15 Turn on tv to catch news and weather (to make sure kids dress appropriately for school), husband goes for morning run

6:30 Start making kids' breakfast (usually pull out cereal, raisins, bananas and milk) and lunch

6:45 Wake up kids and get them ready for school (trying to let them dress themselves), husband comes back, showers and gets ready for work

7:00 Kids come down for breakfast, double check their backpacks and make sure they have h/w packed

7:10 Husband comes down we eat breakfast, down coffee and then go over any changes in schedule for the day (meetings, appointments, practices, etc.) together

7:30 Everyone is (or should be) on the way out of the house with backpacks, work bag, lunches, etc. on them (this is also my chance to give my family hugs, kisses, and make sure everyone is somewhat decently dressed for the day )

7:35 Husband heads to work (40 min commute on a good day); I drop the kids off at school

8:00 Back at home ready to attack the mess in the house (laundry, cleaning, organizing etc)

9:30 Try (try being the important word) to take a walk around the neighborhood to clear my mind and keep my hips in check

10:00 Shower, clean myself up, check email and plan out rest of day and what I need to get down before I pick the kids up

11:00 Grab lunch and head out the door to do errands until time to pick up kids from school

Phew...Busy morning! What's your morning routine like?

With a six month old, mine varies from morning to morning. Usually he wakes up around 5am to nurse. While I'm nursing him my husband gets up and gets ready for work. Andrew falls back asleep between 5:15-5:30 and him and I sleep till about 8:30. Then it's just sorta whatever needs to be done for the day --- errands, cleaning....etc.

I wake up at 5.  Between 5 and 6 I do some reading and prayers, eat my breakfast and hop on the treadmill or in the shower.  At 6 or 6:30, I start doing my set housework for the day.  At 7, I sit down with a glass of water, check my email, do some reading, finish up any other task that needs to be done or fold laundry.  At 8 my daughter wakes up and I get her fed and dressed and then for the next hour and a half we play and watch cartoons.  Then she gets a snack, we may go for a walk, and sometimes we color or play some more until lunch.

I have enough trouble getting myself ready in the morning! Sounds like it will be quite interesting once I start having kids!

Husband (when he isn't deployed or on 12 hour shifts) wakes up with me about 5:40. We wake our 3 year old...make a bottle for the baby, feed her while we get dressed, call the 3 year old to the bathroom, fix hair brush teeth, get dressed. He can't dress himself as he has cerebral palsy...then dress baby, give medicine to 3 year old, get backpack and diaper bag, leave the house not later than 6:20...husband buckles kids in. He goes to work. I drive to drop kids off at daycare and then commute 40 minutes to work to teach middle school.

We live for Saturday when we get up with the kids, feed them, and crawl in the bed or on the couch to snuggle as a family and watch cartoons until somewhere between 10 and noon. Then we get up and do wahtever errands we need to.

Alarm goes off at 7 am and I let the dog out and feed him, go to the bathroom and get into some comfy clothes.  I'm usually out of the bedroom around 7:10 and I feed the cats and see that my 7 year old is already breakfasted, brushed, dressed and is playing on the computer (she is in love with the game Spore so she wakes up early and gets ready so she can play).  I make her lunch and then we chat and play until 7:46 and then get into the car for school.  I drop her off at school and am usually home by 7:55.  I drink my slimfast and watch tv until 9:25 when I wake up my husband for work.  I then have the day to do what I need to do until 2:55 when I go to pick her up from school.  It's a good schedule for us :)

We have a pretty good routine: I do breakfast, my husband does lunches. On a good day we can have the whole thing done in 30 minutes. Breakfast is usually cold cereal and some kind of fruit - better than nothing that's for sure. But last week we tried Batter Blaster pancakes and the kids have been begging for them ever since! Nice to give them something hot now that it's getting colder! Plus the organic part makes me feel a little better. Eases any "breakfast in a can??" guilt I might have ;)

DH: Showered and out the door by 5:15
On an ideal day I get up with him, pray, shower, get coffee and mess around online for a bit.  By then usually the twins are up and I change them and we hang out until the other kids  gradually get up.  By 7:30 everyone is up and we eat and do chores.  We start school between 8:30 and 9:00 and the rest of the day is entirely dependent on the day's activities, ie. is it a ballet/choir day or drama/PE day and do we have a fieldtrip that day.  On the busiest days we're back home again no later than 4:45 starting dinner so it will be ready shortly after DH gets home at 5:15.  And then we either settle in or head out for evening activities like sports.
