  • C-section Scar Pain?

I never had to give birth through cesarean section, but I've had ovarian cysts removed. I know that the incision is at the same place. So, I had my surgery back in July and sometimes the scar really bothers me. It itches at times and when I have to go for an ultrasound (to make sure cysts haven't reformed on my ovaries) it hurts so so bad when they rub the device along my scar.

So, ladies, did your c-section scar bother you months, or even years after the surgery? If you ever had birth through a c-section, does it hurt even worse to have that incision reopened?

I have some slight pain from time to time and it will itch. But I've also had 3 C/S and I didn't notice it until after my 3rd.

But it makes sense that pushing along the scar tissue might hurt. Have you mentioned it to your doctor?

Mention it to your doctor... and ask about scar massage. I had surgery a while back and some of the scars still itch and hurt... massaging the area is what my physical therapist recommended.

itching, and pain? kind of sounds like a keloid. is it a raised scar? try 100% pure tea tree oil. it helped my scars sooo much. but yeah, mention it to your doctor for sure.

I've had two c-sections and just after the first time I had a lot of pain where my scar was.  They even kept me on pain medications for an extended period of time because it hurt so bad.  The second time they did a new cut, some of it overlapping the first and the pain has been the same.  A year later and it still hurts and itches from time to time.

I hope you can find out more about it and find something to help.  I intend to talk with my OB about it when I go in (I'm pregnant again).

I haven't had a C-section either, but one of the four scars from the gallbladder removal still hurts at times...it's lower on my abdomin than the others/in about the same region. The other three sites are perfectly fine, but that one? Not my friend. So perhaps it's just the area?

my c-section scar is just from a few months ago the scar actually doesn't bother me until really random times and its a pain and then just goes away. my only problem is i got an infection and i now have a spot that sinks in it bothers me quite a bit like it wants to open back up but i keep having it checked and its closed. i guess i just need to give it more time

I had a c-section with my first and I have had pain from it. The pain is usually sudden and very intenses, I feel a pop or tear and am almost doubled over in pain. Sometimes I have some spotting from it. It was really bad during my first pregnancy after my c-section. All my other childbirths were natural so I don't know about reopening the wound. My doctor said to remember that the c-section scar is actually three scars. The outer scar that we see that is on the surface. The scar that cut through the muscles and then the scar on the unterus itself. He said that as the skin and muscles stretches the scar tissue pulls and tears causing the pain. It has been 21 years since my c-section and I have had 4 other natural childbirths since then but I still get one of those sharp pains once in a while usually when I'm exercising or dancing or something that stretches and pulls the muscles in that area.

my c-section scar has a constant dull pain whenever I rub it or touch it. Also from time to time I will get a sharp pain from the scar :/ I only had my baby 7 months ago so I don't know if it might still go away

This is encouraging for me to read, because following my c-section 3 years ago I had quite a bit of incisional pain too. And all I kept seeing online at the time was from these Moms who said they were like 6wks post pardum and already feeling perfect and wearing bikini underwear. Not me! Anything that touched around my incision for at least 6 months was painful. I had a VBAC 6 months ago (woo!) and my son keeps somehow findng my old incision with his toes. That still hurts.

My scar has never hurt, and I have been cut in the same spot for 5 major surgeries. (3 of which were csections).

I've had 2 c-sections, and my scar was reopened for my second csection.  I will have a 3rd c-section with this child due in late February.  I didn't have much pain at all with the last pregnancy, but with this 3 one, with my scar being reopened, I've had a few major cramps and sharp pain during my first and second trimester.  It might be because my scar is weaker because it's been reopened and in addition, my body is changing and growing to make room for baby #3.  I haven't felt pain for 3 months now,  I think my scar is or has adjusted to equal growth of my uterus and baby.
