Crafts For Babies - Suggestions Please?
I have a 20 month old who is very creative! She loves to color and play with craft things! Its not easy to find crafts that she can do.

Does anyone have any bright ideas for any crafts or fun activities you think she could do ?

My daughter used to love making jewelry, with food! Thick yarn with a cheez it tied at one end, then thread froot loops on the yarn. Makes a colorful necklace and its ok if little fingers sneak the "beads" in their mouths.
Wal-mart sells foam stickers in its craft section. My kids love to stick them on to add to pictures that they've drawn. And they are pretty easy for little fingers to handle, and big enough that they won't choke.
My son loves play dough - as long as they're not allergic to gluten, it's safe for little ones.
Also, you can make paint out of plain flour and food colorant - safe, even if they put it in their mouths. The pictures don't last too long - the flour will start to flake off a little after a while - but the point is, she could actually PAINT!
Necklaces made from thick plastic cord (don't leave her alone with it, of course) and pasta ("penne") is also cool. You could paint the pasta first, if you like, but make sure the paint is safe.
Here in the Netherlands you can also buy thick velt-tip pens for babies (the colorant is made from food colorant) and thick crayons. Of course, normal art supplies are also fine as long as you supervise closely. No oil paints though
Also, chalk on a chalk board is easy to clean up.
Thick foam or wooden stickers are easier to handle for little hands, so that could work.
For Christmas, you could draw a Santa face and have her stick on cotton wool for a beard (make sure to use child-safe glue, also made out of flour).
Have fun!
I used to love to just put out a big bowl of flour with other bowls, tools, containers for them to play w/ then- Also, you can take corn starch and start by adding just a little water and add more until you are seeing it come together and change in a very wondferful and interesting way--- I'm big into tactile stuff
I work at a daycare center with children that age! There are a lot of fun things that you might not think 20 month olds can do, but they love doing. We do a lot of sensory activities. Shaving cream is a favorite (just make sure she doesn't taste it), we also "paint" with jello or pudding, play with sand, water, beans, just about anything you can think of! If you are interested in making a product we use bingo markers, dot stickers, finger paint, and also a mixture of school glue and shaving cream makes a fun puffy picture. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions or want more ideas!
