  • Lovely Gifts for Mom: Necklace Edition

I remember growing up and trying to buy my mom jewelry to express my love for her. My poor mother sweetly accepted the hideous "mom" jewelry I purchased from Service Merchandise (do you guys remember that store?) with a big smile on her face. Secretly, I'm sure she thought 'Oh no! Not another #1 Mom necklace charm.'

Thankfully, nowadays moms have it a little better with all the awesome online retailers, Etsy shops and awesome custom design stores. Here are a few whimsical pieces we've come across that we ourselves would love to receive:

    Figs & Ginger Nestling Necklace
This sweet necklace with darling baby birds is sterling silver and great for eco-conscious moms that'd appreciate the 50% recycled metal in them. We love that the baby birds can be added with each new addition to the "nest." Starts at $70.   Figs & Ginger also has a similar necklace with a fawn family instead, or if you want to add an additional parent bird check this necklace out.

Red Envelope "What Fills Her Heart" Pearl Necklace
This sterling silver necklace features a heart pendant that can be filled with one, two, three or four loose freshwater pearls -one to symbolize each of the kids.  Starts at $49.95.

    Albeit Alphabet Collection Necklace
This delicate, 14K gold chain comes with a 14K gold letter of your choice. This is the most expensive necklace on the list at $310, but it's something subtle and sweet that could be worn everyday. Albeit also has numbers and symbols charms.

BragAboutIt Domed Hand Stamped Pendant w/Names

This hand-stamped, sterling silver, tiered layered, pendant necklace is a cute, simple way to wear your kids near your heart. Starting at $30. The same seller makes an inverted option as well.

Also, if you use Etsy's search and select handmade and type in "mom" you'll come across thousands of gorgeous handmade goods for mom and even grandma.

Have you received jewelry from your kids or partner? What piece has been the most meaningful to you?

I bought one of those hand-stamped pendant necklaces off Etsy for myself for Mother's Day and am ENTIRELY disappointed with it.  It was $40 or something and it's already tarnishing...like it's made out of cheap metal or something.  I can't get it shiny for the life of me and now it looks rather yellow-ish.  Etsy FAIL.  Next time around I'll invest in one of the more expensive ones like Brooke Burke's company sells that is COMPLETELY sterling silver.

These are cute but not suited for larger families. My sis has 7 kids. I custom made her necklace for Mother;s Day

I love the last one with the stamped names. That could even work as a gift for two best friends or sisters, depending on their age. And its cheap enough where if u wanted to buy it for your two daughters, you wouldn't have to stress about them losing it or caring for it properly.

I love the summary you put for your work. They describe your work very well. When I first see your creation, it strikes me

immediately is the colors. It is so strong and beautiful. You have very good sense of colors and details and skills of sewing.

    Good work!
