Things I Wonder...
Can dogs get H1N1? What do you do with the bread loaf ends? Do you eat them?
I wondered, when you get H1N1, how long are you contagious? What are the warning signs? And what should you watch out for?
My doctor says that you are contagious as long as you have the symptoms. They recommend you stay home for 24 hours after being fever free.
Someone put together this chart... it's helpful but it should be taken with a grain of salt. Everyone is different and therefore reacts differently to disease... Some symptoms may be more severe than others no matter what the charts say. It is best to consult your physician!DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COLD & SWINE FLU & SEASONAL FLU SYMPTOMS

PREVENTION TIPS:
cough & sneeze into your elbow
wash hands with soap and warm water for a minimum of 15 -20 seconds. Sing your abc's or happy birthday to you
use hand sanitizer when soap & water are not available
avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth without washing or using hand sanitizer first
stay home if you are sick to avoid contaminating your co-workers
I got sent this through an e-mail and I'm sure you've seen it too but I though it was worth posting anyway since someone took the time to produce it. The captions reads: Swine Flu Paranoia Gets Out of Hand

What does the swine flu have to do with bread loaf ends?
Haha, the pic is so cute! And yes, eat the bread loaf ends! No sense in wasting food.
Uhm... yeah... of course I eat bread loaf ends.
Doesn't everyone? I mean.. Okay, you maybe don't like them as much, but, especially if you live alone, then you've got to eat them, right? Sorry if I'm offending anyone, but it would be absolutely ridiculous to throw them away :Ssorry, I'm just kind of weirded out by the question. xDPoor Piglet! lol.
I don't eat the ends.. I give them to our dogs.
I just wanted to point out that, as with most illnesses, you are contagious for several days before your symptoms appear. So you've probably already infected several dozen people before you realize you should be staying home.
Also, typically doctors believe that you are highly contagious for as long as you have a fever. Once the fever leaves, you can still spread germs, but you would have to directly sneeze or cough into someone's mouth or share a drink to do so.
I only eat the ends of bread if I am eating toast with a ton of peanut butter.
That's a hilarious picture though!
Have you tried making a strata with those bread pieces? Or how about your own croutons (instead of buying them). I'd give you some recipes myself but I know there are tons for both out on the internet.
H1N1- I'm glad to say I was able to get a vaccine and so was my whole family - we have asthma and lung health issues in our family making it a high priority. It does take 3 weeks after the vaccine for the full protection to kick in. Also the kids will have to have a 2nd shot since theirs was weaker.
My niece had H1N1 and the fever was scary high (she's five - no asthma).
What you really dont want is: 1. person with asthma or pregnant with asthma to get it. 2. You dont want to get it on top of a cold or other illness with or without asthma. (Remembering that a lot of people have undiagnosed asthma).
Stay home when sick - we will all need to learn this lesson at some point. The office will actually function without you.
I make croutons with my bread. And excellent post - and I agree with @averyswife@xanga - 100%
I eat the ends if it's toasted. Extra crunch!
Poor Eeyore, he just can't get that thing to cover his nose all the way.
My roommate and I usually just throw away our bread ends. However, if we don't have money at the time to buy more bread yet, we won't waste any of the loaf. I like toast the best, whether its regular slices or the ends, and I put butter and jelly or jam on mine. :) Or I just eat them untoasted and buttered, or plain and untoasted, or even as part of a sandwich.
But, if we have the money to buy more, we just throw them away. :p
i just ate a bread end this morning.
