WTF.

I got sucked into the show when we agreed to take on the boys and, frankly, most Monday nights I watch Kate and breathe easier thinking, 'If she can do it with 8 kids, I can handle three!' I don't pay a lot of attention to media crap that follows it, but it's damned near impossible to avoid 100%...

To me, and this is purely opinion and faraway speculation, it seems like Jon was good with the show until the tabloids called him out on this sketchy behavoir. On the show, Kate has said a few times that she used to be the one that was a little stand-off-ish with the fans, but in more recent times *coughsincehewasspottedwiththefirstwomancough, cough* it's been Jon that's not so cool with all of it. Could it be...perhaps...that it's since he's been painted in a poor light [because of his own crap, mind you] that he no longer wants to be part of it? He certainly wasn't standing up and telling TLC that he wanted no part of the taping when they were moving into the bigger houses and buying the vehicles that they needed for the kids. Or when the shows enabled him to get hair plugs and bike from the Chopper guys. You didn't see him turning that down...

The difference between Kate's appearances and Jon's tend to be that Kate hasn't done anything, that I'm aware of, to call negative light to the family or the show. Mean while, Jon's flopping around on the ground like one of the five year olds, crying about having kids so young (Something which I believe he was involved in...? At least had to agree to...? Am I wrong there? If Kate raped him, he hasn't mentioned it yet...) and not having had a "life". A dear friend said it best a while ago -- "You have eight kids...that IS your life. Deal with it."

I honestly think Jon is doing this for attention. I'll admit, I dont watch the show but his actions in the media are showing how he is. How is he being a parent partying with all these young girls then taking a huge amount of money from the JOINT account & dissing TLC, who gave his family that money? I'm not saying Kate is a saint by a long shot because she's done her share of talking in the media but who always has the kids? Who always does work? Jon is being lazy & a big kid & he should grow up.

TLC is just trying to fullfil its end of their contract & if the kids are fine, when what's the big deal? Jon is just jealous because his money supply will be going. He didnt get all crazy until he heard his role would be reduced.

The only reason Jon doesn't want his kids to be a part of it anymore is because he's not reaping the money out of it anymore.

I'm sick of them both.  Kate needs to grow some balls and get a job beyond the tv show thing.  TLC isn't going to keep them around forever.

The reason Jon's being sued is because before his contract with TLC was terminated, he made appearances to the media without TLC knowing and that was a breach of his contract at the time.

But I have to agree that I wish this whole thing would just stop. Ever since a few months before they officially decided to separate, it just seems like Kate's in it for the limelight and money and it's really annoying. She does have good intentions in some aspects though, like not letting the cameras film the kids in their rooms, so if they want to get away from it all, they have someplace to go and they know that they can't be filmed there. But all in all, it's a little ridiculous how much drama and gossip has happened with it.

All of a sudden I understand why she was so cranky all the time...look how he behaves when he has no one telling him what to do. I think his kids are MUCH more hurt by Daddy's picture being on the supermarket tabloids than they were by a series of "cute kids doing special activities" shows...but he wants them off the show because he's not getting paid anymore.

I have a lot of opinions to express about this, but since they kindof jump back and forth, I'll do little bullets instead of paragraphs.

-- I wouldn't want my kids on television after all this either, so I understand where Jon is coming from.
-- TLC can obviously choose to sue whoever they want when contracts have been signed, but they've probably given Kate permission to do the appearances, where as they probably didn't for Jon.
-- I do feel a little bad for Kate. You trying being a single mom to eight kids when you're used to having neighbors, friends, & family help you out.
-- Kate had a job until she had all the kids and couldn't afford daycare for them all.
-- I'm not saying Kate is an angel by any means, nor am I saying Jon's a bad father, but Jon was definitely skiiing and shit with his friends instead of attending his kids birthday party. I would think that was shitty of anyone, whether they were on television or not.
-- and of course people wouldn't have anything to say about them if they weren't on television. Only a very small portion of people on earth would have any idea it was going on.
-- And although I think keeping your family on a tv show to make money even when personal family life is getting rough is taking the easy way, explain to me what other job you want her to get where she would make enough money to raise 8 kids, put 8 kids in daycare, and keep the house she has?! It would be highly irresponsible of her to quit the show before being financially secure enough to do those things. She should have that kind of money by now, considering how long the show has been going on, but she wasn't anticipating a divorce or all this other drama, neither was jon. It's very possible they blew lots of the money or whatever. Anyway, the point of this being, the number one responsibility they both have, is being able to raise, support, and provide for their children by any means necessary.
- and I'm sure someone is going to bring up the fact that Kate was a nurse and "could afford to quit the show" maybe she could afford it, if she has money saved, money that she has made from the show, that is. I believe she was an RN? I won't swear by it, but if she was, yes, they do make good money, but daycare is about 100 a week, per child. that would be 800 dollars a week on just daycare. She couldn't afford that on a nursing income alone.

@svys_and_stuff@xanga - I don't like Jon...I think we've gathered that by now...lol...but I believe it wasn't the kids' birthday that he missed for skiing; it was Kate's.

One would think that they'd have enough money to quit the show between the income from the show itself & Kate's books, but like you said...who knows what they blew it on, not expecting a divorce or the show to end just now.

Something that few people mention is that Kate worked a day a week nursing for a while after the show started...she contributed as long as she could to make ends meet and deserves some credit for that, too.
