BEBE GLOTON ( Breastfeeding Doll) Sales Go Through the Roof
Bad News, manufacturer says that he will be out of the BEBE GLOTON doll at the end of October as sales went through the roof in Europe.
The distributor in the USA is out, but will bring some more first week of November, but after that there will be no more dolls until February as the mechanism that makes the breastfeeding sucking noise takes a long time to make. 20,000 sold the month of September!
Would you have gotten one of these for your daughter?

I'm feeling disturbed, just looking at the picture...
WTF?
no wonder the teenage pregnancy age has been getting youngerr ==
only if I had just had a new baby whom I was still nursing and my daughter was having a hard time adjusting. and even then, it would be so she would feel more involved and connected with her younger sibling, and also me in that hard time.
@withlove_c@xanga - why would a breastfeeding doll encourage teenage pregnancy?
I'm sorry I dont think my brain understands...Are young girls suppose to try to breastfeed this doll? I dont say this enough but...WTF!
@Daisy86162@xanga - Because this doll doesnt look like its being marketed to those over 18. Its basically saying to young girls that having a baby and breastfeeding is fun and cool.
I played with dolls when I was a kid and didn't have a baby as a teenager. I never played with dolls and thought "hmm, today I'll go out and have sex, with a random guy, so I can get a real one!!"... I mean, really, how asinine does that sound?
We feed dolls with bottles all the time, what's so wrong with feeding them this way? Would I buy this for my daughter? No. Do I think it needs a special bra to show girls how to do it? Not necessarily. I think if they do it on their own, fine. And people really need to chill the crap out, seriously. It's just a doll!!!
It's just a doll. I played with baby dolls and copied what I saw my mom do. It didn't make me run out and get pregnant so I could be cool. It's imaginary play, and kids do that a lot.
@The_Aimed_Wanderer@xanga - What about all the other little girls' baby dolls? Do those promote having babies as being cool and fun, as well? American Girl has baby dolls, as does pretty much every major toy company.
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - exactly what I was going to say!
The only thing this doll does is push breastfeeding in a slightly creepy way. I wouldn't buy it because I think a regular doll would serve the same purpose but I applaud what the company is trying to do.
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - This is not a normal baby doll. This doll has a specific mechanism, breast feeding! Why would little girls need to pretend to breast feed a baby? Taking care of a baby doll could show kids how to handle a younger brother or sister but whats the point of having a doll that is breast fed. I just dont think that little girls should be running around popping out their boobs and saying they are breastfeeding. They dont understand things like that fully
@The_Aimed_Wanderer@xanga - I pretended to breastfeed my baby doll even without a specific doll for it, because breastfeeding IS normal. God forbid, sometime in the future, there are no more people losing their minds because someone decides to breastfeed discreetly in a public place. This doll was made in another country, where people aren't having knee-jerk reactions to something that is absolutely natural.
@SeeBeeWrite@xanga - I did not say anything about women breastfeeding. I think women should be able to breastfeed in public all they want, because as you said its natural. You dont understand what I am saying and I dont understand what you are saying. Pretending to breastfeed a normal baby doll and having a doll that is made and has a very specific breastfeeding function are two different things.
I am a firm believer in educating teens fully about sex, but teens are not children. As there is a teen pregnancy problem in this country, we have to stop saying everything is ok, its not that serious. There is just so much that you can tell a child and they completely understand. I just think this doll blurs the line a little as to appropriate play for children.
Thats all im going to say about this. If you reply, thats fine, I have nothing else to say to you. You have your opinion and I have mine
OK, I'm currently breastfeeding my 5 month old son and my 2 1/2 year old son sees me do this numerous times each day. He has told me his stuffed animals are hungry and pulled up his shirt, then burped them. I think it's hilarious, honestly! But what this has instilled in my son is that breastfeeding is normal behavior and that is what's important.
While I applaud the idea of this doll and what the manufacturer is trying to do, I do find it a little weird. Children don't need a special doll to pretend to breastfeed with. My son proved that! Ha ha! But I do like that this doll teaches girls that breasts are for nursing babies and not just sexual.
@The_Aimed_Wanderer@xanga - what would make this any different then a regular baby doll though? wouldn't one of those make it look like having a baby and bottle feeding, and diaper changes were cool? I don't think its any different in that aspect
no.
Kids don't need a special doll for this. They do not need to be taught to breastfeed.
If they want to pretend to breastfeed their baby dolls, that's fine, but manufacturing this is just creepy. Once someone is pregnant, they should learn to breastfeed. It couldn't take all that long, could it? So they don't need it to be educated, certainly- and why would a little girl need to know how to do that, anyway?
@The_Aimed_Wanderer@xanga - Again, isn't that what all dolls do? Dolls teach children to nurture and most dolls come with baby bottles. This one teaches children to nurture and breastfeed. The only difference between this doll and other dolls is the breastfeeding aspect and I really don't understand how breastfeeding teaches girls that it's cool to go out and have babies as soon as they can.
@ChicaLaLoca@xanga - Exactly!
I think this doll serves a good purpose. :)
I'm sorry, but it's just creepy for a 6 year old to have fake flower nipples on a bra and have a baby doll suckle them.
wtf...
thats sick and retarded.
I fail to see the difference between this and the dolls sold with plastic bottles. It's a simple fact of life. If Megan specifically asked for it? She'd likely get it. (As things stand right now, there's enough dolls in the household without her having asked. lol.)
All she needs is a little ring sling to go with
I'm creeped out by that. If a girl wants to pretend to breatfeed a doll that's one thing but that's what this one is for. No way I could buy that for someone even if they wanted it.
sorry but I just do not see the big deal. Its a doll for goodness sakes!
What is the difference between this and a doll with a bottle? Are people really that worried about a little girl seeing an alternative (the natural healthy better alternative) to sticking a bottle in a baby's mouth?
If my daughter (when I have one who is at this stage) wants this doll, she will probably get it. To be honest, I like this one better then the ones with the bottle. She is going to see me nursing any other baby I have after her, why should she not know its the natural way to feed a baby?
I used to "breastfeed" my baby dolls all the time- well, I hated baby dolls so I pretended to do so with my stuffed animals. But sorry, I don't think it's appropriate for little kids to have to wear a bra to get the full effect of breastfeeding a baby.
Oh well. I guess when the 13 year olds start getting pregnant and keeping them, at least they'll know how to breastfeed.
