  • Complete Emotional Train Wreck, Please Help

I am a complete emotional wreck (hence the title!)! I am a little over a week late, and been having about 8 out 10 of the "pregnancy symptoms" that I've found online.

    Including:

    1. Late period (obviously)
    2. Sensitive Breasts (more so just the nipples though... sorry for too much information)
    3. Darkening of the nipples (again...sorry.)
    4. Occasional nausea
    5. Fatigue
    6. Frequent Urination .
    7. Constipation (Again...sorry!)
    8. Light headed-ness  and
    9. Very emotional.....

I've taken two pregnancy tests-both negative.

Then yesterday I began spotting very very lightly...so I got online and it said that light spotting similar to mine was common during the first trimester, especially with a "first time pregnancy".

Then today, it was a tiny bit heavier but far from normal for my usual first day of "that time of the month." So I thought "well, maybe I'm about to start, but just in case I'll go get checked out." So I scheduled an appointment at free pregnancy clinic, and of course- the test came out negative!!

So at that point I was okay with that answer, I just wanted to know whether I was or not. It is now 11:48pm and my period stopped!!! What is going on?

First I'm nervous that if I am, my husband and I will be struggling for a little bit due to finances, then I was set on the idea that I'm not so no need to worry...THEN I see that I have a big majority of the symptoms so I think, well I am... it just didn't show up on an at home pregnancy test so I started planning thinking "yes I am pregnant."...then I get to the clinic and it's negative!

I'm so confused, I just want to know! This has been an emotional roller coaster thinking "I'm pregnant, I'm not pregnant, I'm pregnant, I'm not pregnant." I just wanted to know, has anyone else ever experienced anything similar to this?? Or am I just broken or something? Somebody..please help!!

I was stressed at one point a few months ago and had all those symptoms (except darkening nipples) and I could have sworn up and down I was pregnant. But everytime I took a test, it said negative. After a few days my period came full on, and I think it was just messed up because of the stress. So, I guess I'm asking: Could it be stress?

  • Passionflwr86@xanga

Been there, done that. And it turned out to just be period symptoms I was having (tender breasts, emotional, late period, etc.) So... I'd say hold out. If all the tests are coming back negative, it's probably true.

This happened to me just last month, my period was 5 days late, and I had all the symptoms as well, and I thought for sure I was pregnant, I had light cramping so I thought my uterus was growing, frequent urination, nausea, tired, sleepy, just out of sorts. I took a home pregnancy test but it was negative and my period was still late, and then it finally came. I guess you'd call it a bad case of pms. Something kinda similar happened a few months ago, one day i think I start my period but then nothing for 2 days but I had the cramps the whole time and then finally got it for real later on. I wouldn't worry, I think it's normal to mess up sometimes.

i read somewhere once that the more you stress and worry about a potential pregnancy the more symptoms you will have, its like you trick your mind/body.
if you're still unsure in a few weeks go to the dr and request a blood test, good luck!

  • soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga

    @viarah@xanga - yep.

i would wait it out. you could be stressed and that's causing your period to be late, don't jump to the worst conclusion.

Stress and hormones, the more you think you could be the more "symptoms" you will find. Some of those symptoms don't start until at least a few weeks in, and some later than that. Stressing out over pregnancy and your period will also mess with your cycle.

  • talula1984@xanga

I went through that a few months ago and I'm not pregnant. Just try not to stress (VERY hard) and your period will come in full force. You'll be okay!

it happens to everybody, eat some icecream, take a bath & read a book. Put your feet up and relax & soon enough things will sort out.

  • injeannieous@xanga

Did you have a blood test done at the clinic?  That's the most accurate you can get...

  • MangoWOW@xanga

Yes. And I was pregnant. LOL.

But there have also been a lot of times where I wasnt. So who knows.

  • PoetMcChick@xanga

Most people tell me I'm pregnant. But its when I say that I am that I actually am. Sorry, just thinking out loud...well...kinda.

I would go by the test and if you're known for having regular periods and you haven't gotten it in 2 weeks I'd go see the doctor and see if they can figure it out. They have pills to give you that can make you get your period. (They've given them to me before I just didn't take them.)

  • der_lila_Stern@xanga

I would go with you arent pregnant - especially since that is what the clinic said as well.  If you still dont get your period next month, call your doctor and talk to them.

There have been times when I thought I was pregnant.  The stress of the ordeal pushed my period to be even later.

What type of test did they do at the clinic? Did they do a blood test to check your HcG levels? I had 5 negative pregnancy tests with my oldest daughter and my OB had to run my blood test twice because my numbers were so low initially. Wait a week and if still no period test again.

  • lovezpassion@xanga

Stressing about it may cause your hormones to fluctuate, causing the menstral delay, spotting on and off. Just try to relax (although I understand its harder said than done.) If life happens, let it happen.

  • niqabiteacher@xanga

Your stresssing about it could be delaying your period. That being said, I was 40 days late for my period in May and it came May 26th instead of the 13th of 2009. My mom didn't know she was pregnant with me until I was born and didn't know she was pregnant with my brother until she was 6 months along.

  • NotUeberMommy

I usually have most of those symptoms during PMS as well as during early pregnancy. Nausea usually doesn't start until about the 5th or 6th week of the pregnancy, so I'm thinking it could just be stress delaying your period. Three negative pregnancy tests can't be wrong, in my opinion - but it could just be too early to tell. My advice: wait a week, and take another test. If it's still negative, you are definitely not pregnant (if you were, you would have enough pregnancy hormones by then, and you'd definitely get a positive result on the test).

    Let us know!

When you're really stressed out, it's normal to have an abnormal period.  I skipped a two months because of overwhelming stress once.  Got tested just in case and = negative.  That was a few years ago and no baby.

  • tequilasunrise924@xanga

Well, my period ended up coming in, not a normal period, but a period none the less! Thanks for all the comments!! They helped calm me down alot! Thanks guys! =]

  • eclipseygirl12@xanga

I am kinda in the same boat. I haven't had a normal period since June and it is driving my crazy. I have all the symptoms that you plus a lot of head aches too. Next week I am going to the doctors to find out what is going on.

  • tracezilla@lovelyish

I have never had such a problem. However, maybe if you waited a couple of months, being careful about what you put into your body (just in case!) and then went BACK to the doctor and have them give you a blood test to check for pregnancy? I don't know if a blood test can fail one way or another when it comes to pregnancy testing unless someone who doesn't know what they're doing is the one testing your blood?

I mean, at some point, if you are pregnant, you should show up positive on a doctor's administrated blood pregnancy test, right? O.o

Good luck, no matter if you are or are not pregnant. :)

I gave my mom two false negatives. I say go to a doctor to find out for sure.

  • Ketamine_Dream@xanga

    You're not pregnant.

...but if you ARE then shame on you for being so irresponsible.

  • MistressAislin@xanga

You're not broken.  Wait a week and get a blood test done.  It's more accurate than an at home test.  Until then be careful with your body in case you are.

If you are, don't look at it as a financial burden.  Babies are a blessing and congratulations!  Everything will work out the way it's supposed to.
