My son is four months and he's had one professional photo shoot done, at six weeks. He's having another one this month and one during Christmas with his cousin. I'll probably do another one at nine months and then go on a year to year basis. :)

professionals are too expensive. We got our one year olds done once, last christmas, now I do them myself. =)

we make our own little studio at home. hehe we like candid, in-the-moment photos more.

Yup, newborn, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and one year. And now we do them yearly.

my daughter is 16 months old now but during her first year i got them done every month on the 5th since she was born on the 5th.  crazy as it sounds i really didn't spend THAT much.  we have a place called picture people where you can pay per sheet that you get and don't have to buy a package plus i'm on the email list so every time i went there i got a free 8 by 10 and like 20% off anything else i got.  and i would get 3 or 4 different shots and that's it.  i also signed up for their portrait club which was only $40 a year which ends up being worth it.  so on top of my coupon deals i took in i would get either another free sheet or $10 off up to two times for each.  now that her first year is over i'll only get them done twice a year.  on her birthday and then christmas (they end up being six months apart so it works nice!)

My son just turned 3 mths and he's taking pictures Sunday. He also had professional pictures his first week!

I plan to take pictures 3mths, 6 mths, 9 mths and then 12 mths and then maybe only twice a year and then once a year.

My main point in taking these pictures is yes, to show the changes in him. I also have family all over the place and some people think that it's too frequent but my child has changed almost completely from his first photos. They change so much!

I think if one can afford it, go for it! If not take may pictures at home. The actual visual of changes is amazing!
