  • Kate Plus Eight Minus Jon

TLC has informed Jon Gosselin that he will be removed from the show, 'Jon and Kate Plus Eight' and it will now be 'Kate Plus Eight'.  It will 'follow her journey as a single mother raising eight children'.

Jon has filed a law suit against TLC saying he no longer wants his children being filmed because he feels it is unhealthy for them.  He said the reason they terminated him from the show was because he wanted to end it.  He no longer wanted his family on the show.  Kate says if she really felt they show was harmful to the children, she would end it.

Good for Jon.  Its abot damn time he grew some balls and put a stop to all of this.

Do you agree with what he has done?  What are your thoughts on the Gosselins?

@filtered_sunlight - You just bring out the devil in me.

It's unhealthy for his kids that he is on TV flaunting his trashy little mistress, and that Jon and Kate are talking about their personal divorce on The View and other morning programs. If he was actually worried about those kids, he'd suck it up and stay with their mother instead of abandoning them all. And as many people before me said, he wasn't worried about how the show was unhealthy for his children until they cut him out of the show. I hate that guy.

idk. how i feel about this whole situation. I agree with Jon. i think they should stop filming because they are going thru a divorce & no one wants to see sad children. its a tough process to go through.

but that was their only source of income to support all the kids. And I know Jon's job & Kate going back to being a nurse will not cover every bill they have. i guess we'll just see how everything will unfold.

I also think Jon had no issues until his money train was derailed.

I go back & forth on the kids being "exploited".  I really don't think they are- they aren't in the news, their bone-headed dad is because he cannot keep his meat stick under control.  He's also put a 90 day halt on their divorce proceedings... right after TLC cut him.
Bottom line, that family NEEDS that show to support itself.  They are a family of 9 (10 when their dad is around) & have bills, just like everyone else.  Can you imagine the cost of child care/expenses for those kids?  And do you see Jon out there with a job?  Noooooppppeee.
I really believe Kate does have the kids best interests at heart- even though she is kind of jerkish sometimes.
  • poeticimageno36notfound@xanga

not sure if that was jon's actual reason but i'll have to agree on this , they should just let the kids live without the camera in their face almost 24/7

  • kvdubs@xanga

@gwacemom - I'll agree asking if you are dense is impolite.  I just am really against everything going on with those kids.  I feel really bad for them because of everything.

  • MiSS_OH_SO_FLY@xanga

dont get me wrong. kate can be a bitch but shes a good mom.
jons too busy worrying about catchin up on how many years of a sexless life lol
hes really selfish, too, not to mention. asshole.

    just as i thought.
    all men are assholes.

  • mikenpeg@xanga

    @Romans_837@xanga - Ha, nice observation! :) I agree.

  • HawaiianHeldts@xanga

He only wants the show to be stopped because he'll no longer receive a paycheck...a little jealous I'd say. But I do think the show has been pretty detrimental to the family as a whole....so sad to see.

  • jiNNie_g@xanga

Regardless of his true motives, I think it's about time they stopped the show.  The money they made from the show isn't going to be enough to put those kids through therapy... especially with the way their parents are lashing out on each other on TV.

  • emra_cadaver@xanga

i don't like Kate at all. the show is a source of income for her so that is good i believe. other than that, i'm on Jon's side.

  • magnugget@xanga

i rarely see him doing anything when it was jon and kate plus eight anyways

  • jennyanthajets@xanga

I don't watch the show, and I'm not much into realty shows. Mainly because I find that the people who put their lives on display on that kind of medium are just asking for trouble. Airing your dirty laundry on tv is bound to bring up issues. As far as the children are concerned, being a parent is about sacrificing yourself for your children. They can't really be worried about how it's affecting the children when they're worrying about how Kate's hair looks. (That I've at least picked up on throughout all the drama). I guess that we'll see what unfolds in the future for the children. Celebrity children don't HAVE to grow up in a mess that makes them spin into their own issues, but then again, doesn't everyone have issues? Just a rambling thought.

Am I the only one that is actually supporting the show for the sake of the kids?

What Jon has done, trying to cancel the show (and most recently, robbing Kate & the kids of all that money) is pure and simple crap. He did it because he's no longer getting the money because they wanted to change the show to Kate + eight. He's pissed off because of it, and that's his reasoning behind it. Would he have wanted to cancel the show if he'd still get money? Doubt it.

Kate and the kids need the show to pay bills and get by. Yes, they live a very nice lifestyle with having that money, but money is what makes the world go round. The kids interact with the camera crews very well, and it seems, on the show, that they (the kids) think of the camera crew as part of their family.

Having the cameras around the kids could possibly be unhealthy, but it's not killing them. The kids all have accounts set up for them and their future. If people think that having kids on a show like this and taping them is so bad, I wonder what you think of abused kids and such. The kids are healthy, thriving, in school, learning, probably advanced for their age. What is so wrong with that?

What IS wrong about the whole situation is the way the things that Jon does. I applaud Kate, even if she is a bit OCD and did boss Jon around, for being a strong woman and keeping down the fort. She has a lot on her shoulders and should have more people backing her up.

  • jusanobody@xanga

@poeticimageno36notfound@xanga - the camera crews (for the show) are not in their face 24/7... they have certain days per month when they tape.

On the other hand, the paparazzi cameras are probably in their face all the time...& that is to be expected for celebs.

I never hear any negative comments about TLC and their role in this whole situation....thoughts?

  • Angel_Cross19@datingish

He just got mad because his paycheck got cut, he never had a problem with filming the show before when he was IN it.

  • Mamzilla@xanga

I agree with what he's done, but I don't agree with his reasoning. I don't for ONE hot second believe that he thinks it's bad for his kids. I think he's mad because they wanted to make his part in the show significantly smaller and rename the show. This was going to happen BEFORE he decided to make this fuss.

It's not that he is trying to do anything good for his kids, he's just throwing a temper tantrum and trying to manipulate things the only way he can. There is no show without the kids. They are what make the show possible. Otherwise, nobody would care to watch. Obviously, he was expendable because they were cutting his part. So, the only thing he could do to get back at them was to do this.

Although, I have thought for a long time that the show has more than run its course and that the show needs to end, because I don't think it's good for the kids. I just think Jon is lying when he says he SUDDENLY thinks it is. Suddenly, when they want to cut his part.

@draco1531@xanga - I think TLC should have canceled the show when they decided to split up.  But I understand why they didn't.  Television doesn't make decisions on a moral basis and anyone who expects producers and networks to look out for their best interest is naive.  And that is precisely why the show should be canceled.  Yes, celebrities can expect the paparazzi to be in their faces all the time but the children did not sign up to be celebrities it was forced on them from before they could talk.  My friend has twins working in Hollywood and this trend of reality child stars makes her crazy because there are NO protections for these children like there are for SAG child actors.  Basically they are at the mercy of the people who stand to profit off of them, including their parents.

I will be the first person to stand up, raise my hand and say, "yes, I called Kate a bitch and horrible wife and mother" but the direction this has all taken is incredibly sad.  I watch the older shows now and I can see that they were both really good parents doing their best in an incredibly difficult situation.  Raising twins is an entirely different type of challenge from singletons, even many singletons.  I can't imagine the stress of sextuplets.  It's a shame that just when the 6 reached a really, really enjoyable age both Jon and Kate were too far gone in their own anger, bitterness, stress and love of money that they couldn't see it and enjoy it.  They don't realize, or seem to realize, that they are trading their treasure for paper.  All the things in the world won't buy their children the happiness and security of an intact family in a much smaller home with a more modest lifestyle.  And what they may soon realize is that it can all be gone in an instant and then they are left with nothing, not even each other.  I hope they've put a lot away in savings account.

I think though what will make the kids the saddest some day is looking back at those old episodes and seeing how much their parents loved them.  Seeing the cool things their parents did with and for them before it all got out of hand and wondering why it wasn't enough.

  • Devotchka13@xanga

Cause cheating on mommy publicly and trashing her publicly is SOOOO healthy for the kids! He doesn't give a crap about their health he's just angry he got fired.

But I would agree with the show ending. Those kids need a normal life right now without cameras in their face. The sextuplets maybe to young to completely understand whats going on but the twins aren't and it's probably quite painful for them and to have cameras on them during this time isn't the best choice right now.

But why doesn't anyone ask the children if the cameras bother them? Yes they are to young to know whats best for them legally but they do know what they like or don't like.

  • pinkston28

Personally I think Jon is a idiot and hopefully some day he will realize this. I love the show and I think Kate and the kids lives have changed so much it wouldn't be possible to go back to how things were. Kate loves her kids and she knows what is best for them.

  • lovefairy99@xanga

i love this show and im going to have to be with kate too on this one!

  • CrAdLe2daGrAve@xanga

OMG THIS IS LIKE THE BRITNEY AND K-FED SHIT... THEY MADE K-FED THE GOOD GUY WHEN BRITNEY WENT BONKERS THE SAME WAY THEIR MAKING JON THE GOOD GUY WHILE KATE IS BEING A BAD MOTHER FOR KEEPING THE SHOW ON AIR... REALLY?! REALITY TV IS RIDICULOUS THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T GO ON THEM! ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE EXPLOITING YOUR CHILDREN!
