How big was your newborn? I think about how big my newborn will be when I have my first child. I'm only a wee 5'0, 110 pounds so having a big baby would be a bit much for my small frame.
A woman in Indonesia delivered a 19 pound baby boy! Whoa! Look at the size of that baby next to his peer. That is crazy!
I thought that this line in the
article was pretty funny:
"The as-yet-unnamed baby’s arrival, chronicled on TODAY Thursday, was marked by a cry that sounded more like a roar and an appetite of epic proportions." Haha

I could imagine.

That's frightening! 19lbs! Whoa.
I'm not a mother, but I can only pray that I have a small child.
My imagination nor my vagina will stretch that big.
Um... omg wow...
Im scared now!!! lol
I will be delivering my first child in 5 months and i prey to godddd that its not 19lbs..
I hear having a baby is like pushing a desk out of you vagina, so I am guessing a 15 lb baby is like pushing a small elephant.
I can only imagine...
I think I would split in half.
ouch.
1.) It is really sad that her diabetes was not monitored better.
2.) That baby is in for a lifetime of trouble. 3.) Ouch.My boys were 7 lbs 4.5 oz & 8 lbs 11 oz.
The woman had a c-section, not a vaginal delivery.
My son was tiny, just under 5.5lbs.
Ev was 4lbs 15 oz at 6 weeks early (according to the NICU nurses she was probably only 3-4 weeks early in actuality, I guess we'll never know for sure)
Funny thing is after a C-section the doc tells you not to lift anything over 10lbs for a few days. hmm :)
I would like to have seen my little 5 pounder next him!!!
Whoa... that is one BIG baby. I love that picture too, the other one is looking at him like "Dude! You're huge!"
My daughter was 6lb 10oz at birth. I was induced at 38wks.
hahaha oh god i read about this in the paper and was sooooo terrified!!! Theres pregnant woman everywhere going "oh shit....." hahaha
Subhanna Allah! Insha Allah that baby won't be too much for his parents.
I'm glad the baby is ok & I hope he & his mother will be ok.
Before we assume the worst, what is the national average in Indonesia? Every country has guidelines of what they consider normal & dangerous for babies & labor. I KNOW 19 pounds is very off the charts but there are other factors to include. A big baby doesnt necessarily mean diabetes or other health problems. My friend's baby was about 5 & a half pounds & they told her if the baby was 1 pound heavier she would have to have a c-section & Gabi (the baby) was so petite!! They live in Hawaii by the way. I was about 8 pounds at delivery & that seems to run in the family.
Also, I think the baby on the left looks scared of the bigger one. Like "why am I here? What's he screaming for??". Poor thing & he/she looks undersized compared to the big baby.
As an Indonesian the mother was probably pretty small, perhaps about your own size.
@Fairywife@xanga - ROFL!! My thoughts, too!!
@Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga - The article says that her diabetes was not very well controlled. But even so, I agree with you - it is definitely possible that 19 lbs, while large, is not horribly off the charts.
My baby was 7lb 7 oz.
@filtered_sunlight - Hahaha. I was waiting on commenters who totally missed the joke and would tell me she had a c-section.
Oh good lord. I weighed 5lbs but I dropped down to 4. >.>
OW that's gotta hurt. i was 7lbs 11oz... pretty average
My babies were a normal size. I can't imagine how big the mom was and how heavy it was to carry him. In that picture above it looks like that the little baby is saying to himself " oh my what a big baby he is". What a weight she was carrying with him.
I pushed out a 8lb 11oz baby girl and I thought that was huge!
yikes! mine were 6 lbs 13 oz and 6 lbs 6 oz. adding that up wouldn't even be close to 19 lbs.
