This is for all you new mommies that are going through a little sleep depravation, hormone fluctuation, can't shake these baby blues.
About 1 week after giving birth to our second child I decided to visit some work buddies I had not seen in a while. As soon as I entered the office one of them asked, "what did you name your baby?" I had the biggest brain fart ever. No Joke, I could not remember his name. Oh my gosh. After about 2 LONG and painfully embarrassing minutes listening to hysterical laughter I literally had to call my husband at home to find out. Humiliating, to say the least.
Chalk it up to hormones. It's Crazy but we got it all straightened out and I just kept the little guys name written in permanent ink on the palm of my hand.
We're all better now.

lol, I don't know, that seems pretty strange, but we all have brain farts sometimes I suppose.
Wow. Even with hormones and whatnot, how does that happen? Isn't a name something you ponder over and over? Hmm.. but everyone's different, and I've never had a kid so I suppose it could happen.
I can't for the life of me with this pregnancy, ever remember how many weeks I am. That could be because I've been going through a lot and it's the last thing on my mind. But with my last pregnancy I knew how many weeks I was every time someone asked. Now I have to think about it awhile. And to tell you the truth, I'm still not sure.
Well, Ive never forgotten my daughters name, but I forget my birthdate all the time (im so used to giving hers all the time for things now). The other day, I kept telling my daughter things about being five years old.. but she's definately only four, but it took me a while for it to dawn on me.
ROFL. That is funny. I think if that would have happened to me I probably would have burst into tears (especially back then) but that's another story. I didn't forget my son's name, but I did forget my husband's name.
I've never forgotten my son's name in a situation like that one, but sometimes I'll go to yell (not quite yell, but sternly raise my voice when he's into something he's not allowed to be in) and I'll stutter through a bunch of other names before I get to his. "Vince!, Spunk, SPENCER!" Vince is his dad, and Spunky is our dog. lol. :/
Awww lol.
I forgot my own name last week! I was leaving a friend a voice mail and I was like "Hey! This is..." and then I was like "umm... it's me! Call me back!" lol I love these hormones. Too funny.=)
@Erika_Steele@xanga - Oh yeah, They were howling with laughter and it made it really hard to collect my thoughts. I almost started to cry but fortunately "the gang" was cool and it turned into just a funny event that we can all look back on and have a good chuckle. :)
@pretend2fly@xanga - LOL ~ Been there, done that. I'm seeing a pattern here.
@svys_and_stuff@xanga - My dad used to do that all the time but there were 10 of us kids so we cut him some slack. ha :0)
@august_has_fallen@xanga - lol, you are a forward thinker, prepared :)
@AlterEgo909@xanga - @waking_up_older@xanga - I used to make fun of the PMS croud at work, blaming hormones for everything. I am a believer now although I believe sleep deprivation was the bigger issue. ha
LOL! That happened to me after my twins were born.
I have done that befor.. When you are on the spot like that.. Heck I call my kids the wrong names on a daily bases.. Don't feel bad. i am sure you where tired and over tired and what not. I mean it was only 2 weeks after he was born.
O and yesterday filling out a school application the guy has to figure out how old I was cause I could not remember.
Yes! That has happened to me. My husband and I took FOREVER to come up with a name for our son, and even now, he's 2 and I still sometimes have to think really hard about his middle name.
oh my god... I hope that doesn't happen to me... I find out if its a boy or girl on October 9th... then I'll pick a name and i have less then 5 months to remember it!
@bubbelcat@xanga - @opster25 - @Morningstarrising@xanga - Ha!! So I'm Not Alone, :)
@little_miss_Jesse@xanga - Just dress your baby in a monogrammed onzie for a while. ha Congratulations!!!
@P1AutismMom@autisable - hahaha get custom made clothes that have his/her name on EVERYTHING!! and be like "oh my babys name? um.. -quick glance down- and thank you.
haha cute! this made me smile.
my dad used to call all the names in the house before he got to the right one...or he would say my little sister's name instead of mine...
Angel! Shonda! Curtis! Kelly! whatever your name is!
i never actually forgot her name once she was born. . I did however forget it a few times before she was born and almost thought I'd have to pick a new name lol. . i forget her birthday here and there. . more or less the year she was born i always want to put down 89 instead of 08 lol
i always have to pause and think about my son's birthday, but i have no clue what time he was born.
I never forgot his name, but i used to forget his middle name
@shondadiane@xanga - My dad would even go through the dog's name before getting mine correct...
gosh that has to be a "I can't believe this is happening" moment, huh?
@shondadiane@xanga - @Katja88@xanga - . My Dad Too!!! This seems to be epidemic lol
@viarah@xanga - @KimisBarbie@xanga - If I wasn't squeamish, I'd study the brain. : - )
