Please Help: I'd Like to Throw My Sister a Baby Shower and Have No Clue...
My sister is due in 5 months! I am so super duper extremely excited! She's going to have a boy, and I want to throw a baby shower for her.
The thing is...I don't know how it goes and I have never been to one. She's my only sister, so I want to make this really big for her because we really don't know if she'll be able to have another kid due to medical issues. She only found out that she was pregnant a month ago and we are all really excited.
I really want to make this work out because she has done so much for me and no one can ever replace her because she's just so incredible. She was only 16 when my mom went back and forth to the Philippines for treatment, so she's always been there to take care of me. I'm 19 now and she's turning 22 this coming January. I just want to give something back to her because I know she'll always be there for me.I'm sure you see how much I love her.
So please, any tips on how to throw a baby shower or what I should do? I'd really appreciate it.

I am the master of baby showers, cuz I come from a long line of fertile ppl. I would need to know more details, and then I could help you from there. How many guests, and what is she into? Where would you have it, and how much money can you spend?
Here are the basics - you need a cake, light refreshments (can be appetizers or just nuts and mints to go with the cake...depending on the time), decorations (boy colors obviously), a theme (ties everything together), games, present opening time and that's about it! Also, you could give a speech or have someone else close to her give a speech.
Another nice touch is to have people write a piece of advice about motherhood on a piece of scrapbook paper and then compile all of them into a scrapbook for her.
How cute would a storybook theme be?! I mean, really?! Or you could just go simple - with a "it's a boy theme" =) Blue everything!
or a diaper cake. :)
they're super cute
For the food & drinks I would go to Sam's club or Costco for it. Dollar store for decorations, I am sure that no matter what you put on your sister will love.
As for party games there are many that you can find to play at http://www.partygameideas.com/baby-shower/
And many other sites! When you have everyone over try to make everyone comfortable as possible my baby shower was awkward since it was half of his family there and the other half of people we didn't know at all!
Just make sure it flows like start with an ice breaker game, then another main game (w/ cheap prizes from any useful store clearance is your best friend!) and then eat the main courses, sit and talk after then cake and maybe a game or two more before your sis gets tired?
hope it helps! good luck!
It totally depends on your sister's personality. You have food (could be just appetizers etc), you have cake, and silly games. I'd have it sooner rather than later. It's traditional to wait until later to have the shower in my family, I am not sure why. I was like 8 months or so and I just wanted to leave after an hour. I really wanted to enjoy myself b/c I could tell everyone worked so hard at getting things together for me.

At my baby shower we had a game called "break the ice" where we'd frozen those little pseudo bottles and binkies into ice cubes, and then had them in the glass of water. Whoever's melted first got a prize.
Then we had different candy bars melted into diapers and people got to smell and taste them if they wanted to see if they could guess which diapers had which candy bars, *the diapers were numbered* (No I did NOT taste them, lol) and whoever guessed the most got a prize. *Tip: Don't microwave the diapers with the candy bars... I'd heat up the candy and put it on a fresh diaper, lol*
Take lots of pictures!! She'll cherish them!
