How do you NOT laugh??
I'm sure we have all been guilty of laughing at someone, or a certain situation when we know we really shouldn't....
This summer, my kids and I were down in Ga. visiting my family. We were staying with my mother at the time, who has been wearing full dentures for quite some time now. She is pretty self conscious about the fact that she wears them. Well, one night at dinner my mom gasps as she takes a bite of food, realizing that one of her front teeth has completely come out.
She would NEVER be caught dead out in public like that, so she got pretty frustrated due to the fact that she was going to have to take an entire day of work off to drive an hour to the clinic to have them fixed.
Now for the funny part. My daughter became curious what all the fuss was about so we explained to her that Grandma's tooth had come out and she was pretty upset...to which she exclaims..."Oh Grandma!! Is the tooth fairy gonna come tonight?!?"
My sister and I just looked at each other and could NOT contain ourselves. Luckily, my mom didn't take it too hard, but we just couldn't help it! LOL

awww...that's cute!!
I saw my grandfather's dentures OUT of his mouth when I was probably three or four....I was scared to death!
And then the kid was probably wondering what was so funny...:P
LOL! We still crack up everytime we think about it. Too funny!!
Awe how cute!! I would have laughed for sure. Your mom should learn to laugh, too. After all, you're family =]
My Poppy (grandpa) had a mole in the middle of his forehead, and every time I ''pushed'' it, he made his dentures pop out. I believed the mole really was a button until I was about 8 years old, lol.
that's cute. it's not really laughing at your mother, just laughing at something cute your daughter said.
that's such a cute story.
@XxFireXboltxX@xanga - He didn't chase you around with those, did he? Some bad memories come to mind...
@LonerB@xanga - haha, no....he was asleep and had taken them out before going to sleep. My grandmother asked me to get something out of their bathroom and that's when I saw them....I was very scared and very confused!!
@XxFireXboltxX@xanga - ROFL. OMG! Someone ate my Grandpa and they spat the teeth out! How old were you? That could be quite traumatizing...
@LonerB@xanga - yeah...I was shaking like a leaf! I think I was 3, almost 4. He had cancer really bad at the time and was going through chemo and I KNEW the chemo made his hair fall out but, I connected it with his teeth falling out and that freaked me out even more. Cause dentures aren't just teeth you know...they are these gum looking things too....yeah, definitely not something a child needs to see. Although, when I got older and before my grandpa died, I told him that story and he laughed so hard he cried....so, it's pretty hilarious to our whole family now.
Hahah, kids are so innocent it's so cute. Kids say the darnest things!
@Sunshine08x21@xanga - Your Poppy must have been a lot of fun! I bet you have a lot more great memories of him!
@grandmakitty@xanga - Lol he sure was. He was a great man =]
I don't think that is a situation that didn't call for a laugh... You weren't laughing at your mother and her embarrassment, after all. You were laughing in response to your daughter's innocent and darling question. There was no cruelty in either the remark or your laughter.
well... if something is funny your brain generates the impulse to laugh from the thoughts and emotions. If you are able to stop thinking on command, like a switch on and off on and off, you can theoretically stop emotions thus the impulse to laugh. However I am not saying to stuff up your emotions until it topples over but like I said ... a on and off switch, turn on when appropriate or necessary and off for the same reasons.
I have to be careful when I open my mouth too. I have these two extra long canines that make me look like Sabertooth.
